TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! EASTSIDE HOMEOWNER CHALLENGES EAST PATROL EMINENT DOMAIN STATS!!!

I was lucky enough to have a recent conversation with a homeowner who challenges the current location of the new Proposed East Patrol site . . .

CHECK SOME QUOTES FROM A KANSAS CITY EASTSIDE RESIDENT FIGHTING TO SAVE HER HOME AND CONTRADICTING KCPD REAL ESTATE STATS!!!

She challenges the decision frame by frame . . . Here are her quotes:

"Here's the subject block. Renters, Vacancy and Homeowners. YOU make the comparison. The Police Department is saying this is the BEST location for the Police Station/Crime Lab. Why? Based on this data it IS NOT."

"This illustrates the vacancy south of subject area. Who are they trying to fool? 2600 Block was not the BEST location when they're making the argument for blight."

"Here's the 2500 Block of Brooklyn to Prospect. Both blocks to the North & South of the subject area are more blighted. So, how can you intelligently say this is the BEST location available? If we're considering blight. This has to be questioned and answered."

From a recent post . . . Here's a comment regarding the East Patrol on the 2600 block . . . "Asked why if blight, crime were a prominent factor, then why wasn't the 2700 block of Prospect to Brooklyn selected. In contrast to the 2600 block of Prospect to Brooklyn; the neighborhood North of 27th Street is far more occupied than the 2700 block of Prospect to Brooklyn. Estimated total houses in that corridor is 10 occupied structures; in contrast, the 2600 block is mostly occupied."

Look at all of the charts and notice that the block under consideration HAS MORE HOMEOWNERS than the other three panels and does not rank the highest in vacant structures . . .

NOW WHAT'S IMPORTANT HERE IS THAT BOTH 3RD DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES ARE SUPPORTIVE OF THE CURRENT EAST PATROL CONFIGURATION!!!

This is a political position that has created controversy within the neighborhood and might very well be another reason that Council Dude Jermaine Reed faces recall.

DEVELOPING . . .

  4. What does "Vancant" mean? Did she mean "vacant"?

Dumbass can make a graph chart, but can't spell.

  5. Why are we debating the location of the police station? All of the proposed sites are cesspools that no one would actually choose to live in.

  6. All that you ever hear about from a handful of folks in the Thrid District is what they don't like or are against. Why doesn't someone provide some actual proposals or ideas to support? They can start with a focused effort to get the residents to support the police and provide the kind of information necessary to convict some of the better known thugs, help solve some of the endless homicides, and maybe even prevent some of the violence. Actually doing something takes some real effort, knowing what you're actually talking about, and hard work.
But all the vigils, marches, and complaining don't change anything.

  7. Google viablethird and you'll see some proposals worth looking at.

Viable Third Communities is a consulting firm looking for business, which is fine, but there are hundreds of similar folks looking for funding. And if you spend any time east of Troost, it's pretty hard to find much in the way of results from housing studies, neighborhood redevelopment, business and jobs, public safety, or even basic code enforcement.
We don't lack for ideas or consulting firms. We need some leadership and sustained effort at actually DOING something.
And most of us have never even heard of this organization. Guess we don't offer the bucks to be able to make a difference.

Eminent domain surely worked out well at that vacant Merriam strip mall on Johnson Drive.
People uprooted from the homes they owned for decades, all for an annual halloween store.
Just a good reminder that in this country, you never really own anything outright.

  10. Aging, poorly maintained, underutilized property regardless. Raze both parcels.

  11. Can we claim imminent domain on Mayor James, 'greedy' Reed and Lady Melba??
