NORTHEAST RESIDENT: KCFD AMBULANCE SERVICE RESPONSE TIMES STAY LOSING!!!

Read an important report from The Northeast News:

Ambulance response times questioned by local resident

Here's the money quote:

"While you’re waiting to do a plan, people are going to suffer" . . . And the story concludes with . . . (Public Safety) Committee members are currently evaluating the emergency services system and how to make improvements.

Conclusion . . .

The KCFD Takeover of Kansas City Ambulance Services has wasted HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS . . .

Response times remain a controversial issue . . .

Problems integrating personnel and management persist . . .

Most importantly . . .

OVERALL CONFIDENCE IN KANSAS CITY AMBULANCE SERVICE HAS DECLINED SINCE THE KCFD TAKEOVER!!!

Once again and on the local level, big government has moved in and basically wrecked the work of a private company . . . In the meantime when it comes to fixing this service there seems to be nothing but more promises of hope and change for a recovery.

  1. Hey JJ Rizzo!

Your thug friends at Local 42 are not getting the job done for your district!

    Asshole!

  2. 8 minutes is within the limits. But it was probably closer to 9 and I agree with the woman in the story when she says that doesn't make any sense when the station is two blocks away.

  3. What's the response time to the city jail?

  4. KCMO Officials Lack Priorities...10/5/11, 8:51 AM

Good thing the politicos at City Hall engineered the take over of MAST for their union buddies in Local 42. Then they handing out unjustifiably large and unwarranted pay raises to the union as well. While the average taxpayer in this city is lucky if they even got one 2% COLA in the last 3 or 4 years, let alone pay raises and back pay, Local 42 is sure living high on the hog these days! What's next, more handouts for developers?!?

  5. I grew up in the country. Eight minutes doesn't seem bad.

  6. Was the ambulance based two blocks away out on another call?

  7. You think it's bad that the fire department is running the ambulances?

What if the water department was running them?

Response times would be 24 hours minimum.

  8. KCPD response time for crime - never.

  9. Can someone tell me why response times are so important? Where's the research to prove that a particular number is better than any other? Some cities have 10 minutes or 11 minutes or 12 minutes. Why 9 minutes? I don't think anyone understands. They just want a number. Nobody even bothers to ask why.

  10. I know if my loved ones are hurt badly enough to require and ambulance response, I want there when I hang up the phone! Eight minutes, is a long time to wait if a family member is possibly dying of a heart attack. In fact, in those situations, every minute counts.

  11. Every minute does count in a few instances. But a huge percentage of the calls are a waste of time so that in a true emergency they may be too slow.
