Here's a great bit of coverage from Northeast News regarding THE BEST DOWNTOWN VENUE IN KANSAS CITY . . . Seriously, Municipal Auditorium makes The Sprint Center seem like the lifeless corporate scam that it is . . . Anyhoo, here's some nice photos and a round-up of a recent B-Day party for the old school Kansas City Venue:
Seventy-five years of memories
It is a blessing that KC never had enough money to "modernize" Municipal Auditorium
ReplyDeleteIt still has the wonderful art deco architecture and decor. There wasnt enough money to replace it all with orange plastic in the 60's and 70's.
The auditorium is a treasure and is perserved in the 1930's art deco style despite all the "modernization" efforts of other buildings.
Agreed. Some of my best KC memories involve Municipal Auditorium. A great place for Circuses, Jamborees and concerts. The Music Hall is awesome too.
ReplyDeleteSprint Center pales, and always will.
Now if only they could fix the roof and get rid of that dumb plastic hat.
ReplyDeleteLifeless corporate scam is right.
ReplyDeleteThey cattle call you in and shuffle you out as quickly as possible, no hanging out or god forbid socializing at the venue after the show.
Sweet Jesus what Americans pass off as entertainment these days is really staggering.
What will they do with Sprint Arena after we lose the Big 12 Tournament because MU went to the SEC?
ReplyDeleteRemember Jay Nixon's part in this at election time.
I didn't realize it had a plastic hat. That's awesome!
