TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! DO YOU WANT TO HELP KANSAS CITY COUNCIL DUDE JIM GLOVER GET OUT OF CAMPAIGN DEBT AMID THE GREAT RECESSION?!?

These are harsh financial times and it's important that people focus on their priorities when it comes to keeping a budget.

Then again . . .

KANSAS CITY COUNCIL DUDE JIM GLOVER HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH EXPERIENCE TO KNOW THAT POLITICOS MUST NEVER QUIT WORKING ON THEIR CAMPAIGN WAR CHEST!!!

To wit . . . Take a look at a recent and last minute mailer sent by supporters of Council Dude Glover:

Here's the important part and the big "ask" that's featured front and center on the invitation:

"You are cordially invited to attend a fundraising reception to retire the campaign debt of our city councilman, Jim Glover."

That doesn't sound like much of a party despite the nice location of the event @ The Waldo Well. Still at least he's being straight forward . Contrastingly, as of late nobody has had the guts to tell the guy that we're all getting tired of hearing about the old school Glover Plan given that the economy has fundamentally changed since that midtown milestone.

In fact. . . These images came from a rather KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER who says:

"I will CERTAINLY show up tonight and give him $100 if I never have to hear about The Glover Plan again. We get it. It's over. Got ANYTHING else?"

Unfortunately for Council Dude Glover we haven't heard about any efforts regarding CURRENT job creation in between his support for developer giveaways AND urban chicken legislation.

More than any other member of the City Council, Mr. Glover ran on a job creation platform and it'll be interesting to see if he can still use those talking points to solicit more donations given that the opening days of his latest term haven't seen much progress on that front . . . Oh yeah, AND everybody is broke and out of work without any cash to spare.

  1. I'd buy that for a dollar.

  2. Jeez, I just now got the "glove" reference. Anyhow, this guy is a douche bag and I wouldn't give him the schwed off my schweddy balls...

  3. I don't think so.

  4. Glover and his sidekick are complete douche bags. People who were involved bac then know that Glover almost destroyed the midtown project and others stepped in and saved the day. Just because he shows up for every gathering of three or more doesn't mean neighborhoods like him, it means he has no friends and nothing better to do.

  5. Tony:

You should go and take pictures. My guess: it will be sparsely attended.

    ReplyDelete
  6. At least he did not use unsolicited bulk e-mail in his campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Maybe he shouldn't have been paying city hall employees to work on his campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Kinda late notice but the straight forward description of why he is raising money is actually strangely honest coming from an officeholder.

I will give him that much.

  9. Will Jordan Carver be there?

  10. If no one is spending money, why are the parking lots at Costco and Home Depot full at Linwood and Main? that is the best thing that has happened to that area in decades!

  11. Anon 7:04 - I agree.

Why it was so cold the other night, Glover had his hands in his own pockets...

  13. 10:09 nailed it. Full parking lots speak volumes when it comes to grading the Glover Plan on a pass / fail basis.

  14. It was great 10 years ago. The rule of politics is: What have you done for me lately?

    So, what's new Jim?

    ReplyDelete
  15. 10:09: So true. and 11:38: What has anyone else on the council done--period?

Jim Glover has his faults as do all of us, BUT he has an accomplishment no one can deny in the Costco-Home Depot complex.

Anyone remember when people derisively called the empty lots there "Glover's field?" Give the guy credit. He took a risk, and the parking lots are full.

Based on the comments posted it seems John Crawford's lackeys are still sore over the election.

    Guys--can you spell l-a-n-d-s-l-i-d-e?

  16. Glover was involved with one successful project, but in the opinion of many who worked on it he caused major delays solely because of his bullish ego.

Glover's personality holds him back. He never lets go of his grudges and is vindictive as hell.

  17. This is the first fundraiser he has had since his last term. Even during his run for office he didn't have a fundraiser. What has DONE since he was elected!?

  18. Jim is a good guy. Tony's post makes fun of his fund raising but all politicians have to do it.

And even Tony mentions that he's being straight forward. There's not much to like about this Council. Jim is the exception to that.

    Hi Mr. Crawford.

Now quit blogging and bring some jobs to KC or get out of the way.

  20. 12:26: Another sore John Crawford campaign staff member heard from. It's not nice to call your opponent a pedophile. I don't think I'd let go of that one, either.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No one said anything about Glover's family from the Crawford camp...I was very close with Crawford and his campaign staff. Glover is just saying anything to keep bad blood. He is a sad case.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Fuck him! Let him pay his own bills. The rest of us have to.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Daily's at the Chamber, Crawfords head of the EDC. Crawford camp wins.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1:18 and 1:19: Yeah, right. You can say you didn't say anything about Glover's family because technically Jim's wife's kids were not his family.

What you all said about "the kids being taken away from Jim" was pretty darm ugly. And Jim's reaction to Crawford's appointment to the EDC has been duly reported and discussed.

  25. The Costco and Home Depot happened in spite of Glover, not because of him. He's angry, vindictive and cheap.
