Now, what would the wage be for this low-key position? I'd lay you odds, it's more than 90% of Kansas Citians make. Just more government robbery, right under our stupid noses.
ReplyDeleteI thought Crawford had retired, and that was why he was running for Council, to make a contribution now that he was in the twilight of his career.
ReplyDeleteBut now he isn't retired. He took a plum job that probably pays six figures. You can't tell me they couldn't find a younger person with better connections to the small business community to do this job?
What gives?
Unfortunately KCMO, and certainly the EDC, are not interested in small business, even though that community generates over 85% of all the jobs in the metro. Although there's a Council committee working on streamlining regulations and permitting for smaller companies and start-ups, and actually listening to what people have to say, the EDC is a big business big developer mosh pit where downtowners and others send their attorneys to round up serious TIF and tax abatement money for their latest grand scheme.
ReplyDeleteAnd now on to the new taxpayer-subsidized downtown hotel. You can bet the EDC will be right in the middle of it!
