For the most part I think the local media is finished falling all over themselves for a quote from Mayor Funky . . .
In fact, they seem to forget the fact that when voters had their say Mayor Funky couldn't even make it into the General Election.
KCTV5's Eric Chaloux recently completed a great Funky interview on the outgoing Mayor Funky's last legislative session day . . . It was kinda cool given that Chaloux seemed exasperated with Funkhouser self-dellusion and finishes the story by calling him a "typical politician" while offering a bit of a smirk.
Still . . . The Former Mayor doesn't really deserve the last word . . . So I wanted to take five words to summarize Mayor Funky's Tenure:
1. Mammy
2. Barefoot
3. Stubborn
4. Co-Mayor
5. FAIL
Again, nobody is going to be surprised to see this d-bag try to sneak in office again . . . But as the first Kansas City Mayoral Incumbent to be booted from office in the modern era . . . He'll have to attempt to rewrite history or hope this town forgets so many of his missteps.
You're right. He was also a huge disappointment. Such potential, wasted. Not much of a "legacy."
ReplyDeleteOk, they are gone. Let it go.
ReplyDeleteWorst Mayor KC had in the last 100 years.
ReplyDeleteRight on, Chuck. Stop beating it, man.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance.
ReplyDeleteDon't come back.
The messenger was flawed but the message is still true. In KCMO the city government exists only to enrich the favored few. Sometimes those few fight over who get what but in the end the taxpayer is always the victim, not the customer.

ReplyDeleteFunk as shoegazer singer.
ReplyDeleteAdios! and don't let the door smack you in the ass.
ReplyDeleteSelf-inflicted
ReplyDeleteThe best thing you could do tee, is never mention him again.
ReplyDeleteI just watched the council legislative session and found the farewell speeches interesting. Everyone seemed to be kind and found good things to say except one, Jan Marcason. First the Dancing on election night which was very unprofessional and now her singular failure to speak to Funkhousers resolution. It is traditional and while others probably found those words sticking in their throats they managed to respect the office and theirs. Shame on Jan for being so petty.
ReplyDeleteActually, Funkhouser can be adequately summed up in one hyphenated word:
ReplyDeleteAss-Wipe.
Hen-pecked
ReplyDeleteZero.
ReplyDeleteReformers who insist on charging through eventually get stonewalled and that is what happened to Funk. He should have eased the council through issues and left them little choice but to support him or look bad to the voters. Instead, he tried to ram everything down their throats and made it easy to claim their opposition was personal and not just the fact that they couldn't buck the status quo and their contributors.
