THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS IS THE NEW MAYOR FUNKY!!!

Little known fact: Today is actually Mayor Funky's last full day in office and Sly James will be sworn in as Kansas City's next Mayor on Sunday due to some obscure rule in this town's flimsy Charter.

The bigger ceremony for Sly James taking the oath of public office will actually be the second time around . . . And as one failed politico leaves the stage it's time to look at another quickly fading star.

JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE SANDERS SEEMS TO BE THE NEXT LOCAL POLITICO FACING AN ONSLAUGHT OF CHALLENGES TO HIS RULE!!!

And it's not like the guy isn't ripe for criticism.

I always thought he looked like Dieter from Sprokets, one of my favorite old school SNL skits. In politics, where image is everything . . . I have to admire a guy who earned a pass regarding some rather interesting personal style. It's actually quite encouraging given that Dr. Pepper, Chinese Food & Snack Cakes have transformed TKC into a real life version of an Internet troll. Also, because Internet profit is nothing more than a persistent myth I'm pretty sure that one day not too far from now I'll be writing this blog from under a bridge. But I digress . . .

The impending FAIL of Mike Sanders is far more complex than the simple stubbornness and idiocy of Mayor Funky.

We'll have more on all of this later but thanks to his new convoluted Prosecutor picking tactics, his fundraising foibles and his political ambition . . . Mike Sanders has set himself up as a rhetorical target.

THE PERCEPTION OF SO MUCH ARROGANCE AND PRIDE FROM THE MIKE SANDERS ADMINISTRATION WILL ULTIMATELY THREATEN THE POLITICAL FUTURE OF THE JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE!!!

Locals have seen that Mike Sanders loves the spotlight, he has made appearances on national talk shows and he has carefully cultivated the image of a reformer but now all of that PR work seems to be wearing thin.

Even worse, over the course of any political career there are no shortage of enemies who add up and now it seems that potential opposition for Mike Sanders has noticeably increased.

Examples . . .

JACKSON COUNTY POLITICAL INSIDERS LAMENT A PUBLIC SLAP IN THE FACE AGAINST MO. STATE REP. JASON KANDER GIVEN THAT THE PROMISING YOUNG, POLITICO DIDN'T MAKE THE FINAL CUT FOR THE PROSECUTOR JOB!!!

Think about this . . . Rep. Kander has a big campaign bank account, he's the favorite son of the most influential district in Kansas City and he's widely regarded as a rising star in the local, political scene . . . The Jackson County prosecutor selection committee is nothing but a rubber stamp and the early exit for Kander is being interpreted as a public slap in the face from Mike Sanders hoping to mark his territory in Jackson County. The slight was unnecessary but not unnoticed, if Kander made it to the top three then it would have been a sign of respect and acknowledgement that he's now an important power player in this town. Instead, Mike Sanders let his ego get the best of him. Luckily, Jason Kander isn't a vindictive person but that doesn't mean his MANY supporters won't remember the slight.

And then there's the dynamic duo of Jackson County Legislators Theresa Garza Ruiz and Crystal Williams!!!

Once unprecedented in County meetings, Crystal Williams is now so emboldened that she's openly questioning Sanders and his decision making . . . And so many people suspect tension between Garza Ruiz and Sanders now that the word is out she wants his job with his blessing or without.

Nope, it's not only the personal failing of Mike Sanders that threaten to bring him down but also the long list of people he's stepped on in order to get to the top who now have the opportunity for political payback.

Mike Sanders stood against incoming Mayor Sly James, he's not a part of the reformer mantle now held by Garza Ruiz and Crystal Williams and his pussyfooting around when it comes to seeking a higher political office has grown tiresome.

For these reason and so many more . . . Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders now faces the same kind of contempt that brought down the former top dog in Kansas City.

MAYOR FUNKY IS GONE, MIKE SANDERS IS THE NEW MAYOR FUNKY!!!

And all of this has inspired tonight's playlist . . .

As always, thank you for reading this week and have a safe and fun weekend!!!

  1. Sanders made a big mistake with the dynamic duo they will be his undoing

  3. So because Teresa Garza wants his position he's now enemy number 1? WTF? I gues this online rag is really just an attack piece for the LaRaza political club. Interesting.

  4. Did Mayor Funky's Chief of Staff doesn't use an emergency vehicle to solicit sex from male drivers? So how could they be similar?

  5. Congratulations to Tony for not taking radio man's offer of penis sucking. OR DID HE refuse?

  6. Tony is a punk fucker that will not meet man to man with anybody. Game on ass sniffer.

  7. JEZZZZZZZ Tony someone is blowing smoke up your (and the rest of the readers) ass about Sanders and Garza. Probably Chris M trying to do the Lavote clan bidding with a rousing game of lets you and him fight.

Dang it Phil, the trick is to hire a consultant SMARTER than you to help you win a fight/election. How could you screw such an easy task up?

We support Teresa 100% a strong upstanding leader is what we need leading the county! And thank you Tony for leaving Chrystal the hell alone your attacks on her was starting to piss us off!

  12. Sanders has created a enemy he didn't need a bad political move. He is slipping

    ReplyDelete
  13. Is it smoke that Garza is attacking Sanders about no women on the drawing of the lines and about about the prosecutor pick. Get a clue Mike they are going after you .

  14. This is one of your more insightful posts. You are absolutely correct. Sanders is the most transparent, politically ambitious person I've ever seen in local politics. You have nailed it with Dieter, but I can't remember, did Dieter sell used cars on Noland Road?

    ReplyDelete
  15. And all of this has absolutely NOTHING to do with 99.9% of the folks who live in Jackson County, or anywhere else for that matter.
If you ever sondered why most residents in JsCo and KCMO don't even vote, just read TKC.
It's like a magic mirror for all these losers.

  16. Sanders has given Theresa issues that work against him and it's how she works. She is a snake that will turn his mistakes into a run for his office

  19. You are so right T. He DOES look like Dieter!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Dieter is a good one; however, he really looks like a greasy fat Hitler wannabe. Probably has Nazi gear in his basement that he marches around to in front of a hall of full-length mirrors after Georgia goes to sleep.

Mike, people are really tired of your stupid shit, and your political future is ZERO.

    And oh by the way:

HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT HE APPOINTED STEVE BOUGH TO FUCK THE DEMOCRATS?

  23. Garza is the most ugly fat cow I have ever seen. Tony La Raza scumbag.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This should be fun. Steve Bough and Mike Sanders have torn apart the democrats and now we're going to return the favor.

  25. Tony, be careful in weaving the cloth of truth about Sanders with your 'spindle and loom'. The fabric you weave may later become the carpet or table cloth upon which we live. The central issue here is the powerful status quo against the reason of the masses.

This is a class struggle that mainstream media has been avoiding because real tax dollars versus Internet electricity clash on the tables of government.

The 'closed door' selection of Prosecutor represents table center piece which of government uses to focus the attention of the people rather than the speaker at the podium.

Kansas City and Jackson County in its extension, manipulates this dynamic by removing the voice of the people to regain control of tax dollars. It was then funneled to that campaign and for Sanders which then allows it to flow into the pockets of his like-minded power hungry patrons of the regime without public accountability regarding the pledge sources. By grabbing the corners of the tablecloth the dinnerware remains in place while the cloth disappears.

In my humble opinion, Garza-Ruiz does not have the ethical fortitude to resist this process any more than Sanders. On a smaller scale Teresa has allowed those same forces to influence her actions on public issues and the character of her campaign leaves open ended questions about whether Jackson County would be better under her stewardship.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe it's just time to admit Tony that the entire Jackson County Government sucks like the rest of us already know.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Theresa Garza will challenge Sanders wake up

    ReplyDelete
  28. The County is not going to look so good now Funk is gone and it looks like Mike will have the problem legislators with Theresa and Crystal.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I will take Jason Kander over all of them.

  30. I know this is a little off subject, but this drives me crazy and it occurs and is implied regularly on this and other blogs, websites and news programs. What is with people conflating KCMO with Jackson County all the time? There are 470,000 or so people little in KCMO, about 200,000 of them live in Clay and Platt County. Jackson County has about 650,000 people, which means about half of us Jackson Countains live in Eastern Jackson County. One of the things I like about Mike Sanders, another than he is a very bright and capable executive, is that he is from Independence.

I went to Theresa's fundraiser last night at the sheetmetal workers union hall. There must have been 400 people there. Sure not all of them wrote big checks, but that is a good thing. Theresa is the Princess!

  33. 6:30... don't worry about being 'off the subject."

Tony was all over the road in that post. There was no obvious point to that post...which is why the comments lack focus as well.

Lets face it, his Saturday night wrap-up was a free for all. That happens when he gets to rambling about all manner of bullshit.
