TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! CHECK OUT AN OLD SCHOOL 1985 AUDIT OF KANSAS CITY'S CURRENT RETO ANIMAL SHELTER!!!

Update from yesterday . . . The City is taking over Kansas City's Animal Shelter and putting out an RFP to the lowest bidder.

By Contrast, a group of volunteers and a non-profit are hoping to use private donations along with City Funding to run an organization that would be a public-private partnership, looks to run things much more efficiently and would probably result in a new building. Sadly, since it's not election time . . . Kansas City Council members have seemingly lost interest in this proposal.

MEANWHILE . . . Kansas City animal advocates are concerned that the City Run animal shelter is going to become nothing more than a doggie death camp . . . And it's simply an incredibly outdated, obsolete and sorta dirty facility.

CHECK OUT AN OLD SCHOOL AUDIT OF KANSAS CITY'S RETRO ANIMAL SHELTER THAT WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1973 AND HASN'T CHANGED MUCH SINCE!!!

It's almost kind of quaint.

TKC isn't really an animal advocate . . . Because so many animals are just downright delicious . . . However, since the KCFD is busy destroying the last successful public-private partnership in Kansas City . . . It might be time to give this model another chance, especially in an area where it can save Kansas City a lot of cash and lead to an improvement in local infrastructure.

EXPECT A HOT MESS OVER A CONTROVERSIAL KANSAS CITY ANIMAL SHELTER TAKEOVER!!!

  1. Still bitching about MAST Tony? Get over it.

  2. Expect an even hotter mess when the facts come out about how these "animal advocates" made false claims against the operator in order to steal the contract without having to mess with a pesky bid situation. The Missouri Vet Board found the current operator innocent of any wrong doing. This group wants you to hurry and push this through to their chosen one before everyone figures how how dishonest and smelly this stinkin hot mess really is. The city would be rewarding these liars if they give the contract to them.

  3. I want to give the folks who are running Halfway Home a shout out.

On Wednesday I learned a dog I'd rehomed may have been seized by Animal Control. I called Halfway Home and was told to come out even though they were technically closed Wednesday. The folks could not have been more helpful. They let me look for the dog, and they even looked up the Animal Control case and told me no animals had been seized.

They could have just told me they were closed and tough luck--especially given the turmoil they're going through.

I really hope the city and the new vendor (whoever they may be) will keep these fine folks.

  4. City Hall bureaucrats are against this one Tony. Don't bet on it.

  5. Anybody who spent ANY time at the shelter and wasn't personal friends or bribed/bought off by the current vendor knows that the vet board made the wrong decision. And I'm not sure they found him "innocent of any wrongdoing" -- I hear it was more of a "we won't pull your license if you quietly go away, old man" situation.

Regardless, he's out. And Kansas City absolutely needs a new facility. No matter who runs it, that place is a hell hole. The city's just about to find out how bad it is. There are a few good folks out there, though, and hopefully they'll stick around.

  6. "False claims" to steal that nightmare? Rewarding "liars?"

Seems to me you have your own little "personal vendetta" against those that have provided a comprohensive, progressive, and privarely funded Non For Profit program. Until you can show us and the city "your plan" and how "lies and false claims" were made to "overthow" that HELL HOLE (why the hell anyone would want to do that is beyond me!?!)my vote goes to the NFP group that stepped up!

  7. Thanks Tony! Keep up the good work brother! Lived in KCMO all my life and you don't have to be a animal advocate to know that something is screwed up with that place, the vet, the medical care, the staff!
I think anyone that has set foot into that place could tell you that. Time for a new plan KCMO!

  8. Those questioning the validity of claims that the current contractor was violating his contract simply weren't present enough (physically OR mentally) to determine otherwise. People can quickly tell what's what if they're there long enough. Many of those who worked there know what the truth is, but were too scared to speak up. The shelter has been an awful place FOREVER- The last two years sucked. The years before that sucked worse. Time for the shelter not to suck period.

  9. When you have photos, medical records, reports from staff WHO WORK(ED) at the shelter, etc. it's a grasp at a final breath of air to appease yourself with the idea of "false claims against the current vendor." Forget the group that brought forth the claim... are you saying that the 20+ private veterinarians in our community who also have stated the treatment the animals were receiving at the shelter was either non-existent or inappropriate are liars too? What exactly do they have to gain. It's time that people start putting aside their freakin' power trips and live up to reality.

All I can say is anyone who wants to publicly speak out and call those who brought the truth to light "LIARS" better also lawyer up because there is ZERO truth to that claim. Every statement made by the group who brought forth the complaint was SUBSTANTIATED with MOUNDS OF EVIDENCE. Read it people.... read it. It speaks for itself.

Stop caring about yourself and protecting a man who had the best interest (possibly) at heart, but was unable to deliver. it takes a bigger man to admit when he is wrong that to act a coward behind the lies. YOU TOO!

  10. They still use this fucking thing?

  11. You are a liar and you know it and so do I.. Lynn Horsely has the damning email that proves what your motive was. Leave it to you to say the Vet Board lied or for whatever reason would let him off the hook. You lied and I hope you do not prosper from it. Lawyer up baby. I will take more than the one you hired because his name was all over the email too.

  12. Why call them liars? They were simply tools of the liars and they don't even know it. Insiders promised jobs to make statements. This Courtney must be something to inspire such a clandestine operation for the sole purpose of getting her a job since Wayside forced her out after they uncovered this plot and didn't want it to make them look bad should it come to light. Her wealthy backers have never even visited the shelter. They don't want to let the facts get in the way of accomplishing their goals.
