LAME DUCK CITY COUNCIL PASS PLAZA POLSINELLI SUGHART SKYSCRAPER!!!

One of the most crooked parting shots Kansas City has ever seen . . .

While Council dude Sharp surprisingly opposed the deal . . . Jan Marcason fought tooth and nail for it . . . Said the law firms was good and there was no parking issue.

On the real . . . The building never violated the Plaza Plan and keeping the lawyers was important . . . However, this kind of last minute shot is going to do nothing but give people a reason to complain.

  1. So disappointing that this matter was pushed through and that the process that created the Plaza plan and the process for amending the plan (i.e. the decision by the CPC) were pushed aside.

    Once again, so disappointing.

However, I am also proud of John Sharp, Cathy Jolly and yes, even Mayor Funkhouser (I never thought I'd say THAT) for taking a principled stand against two 600 pound gorillas. A tip of the hat to ya!

  3. You're a dumbass. Of course it violated the Plaza plan.

If it didn't, Highwoods wouldn't have needed Councilman-for-hire-Skaggs to revive it and get the Plaza Plan amended.

  5. Time to update this story! Polsinelli just swooped in to fix up the West Edge debacle. That's a win-win, folks.
