KANSAS CITY VIDEO PROPAGANDA!!!

The Kansas City Area Development Council has unleashed a slew of video clips promoting this town online.

Check their profile for more than 30 clips uploaded in the last 24 hours.

They're promoting the ThinkKC.com website that's pretty much useless as anything more than a boring online biz card.

But I have to admire their chutzpah for putting out a cleaned-up and upwardly mobile vision of this town with a straight face . . .

ALL OF THIS KANSAS CITY PROMOTIONAL PROPAGANDA ALMOST MAKES ME FORGET THAT KANSAS CITY IS THE MURDER CAPITAL OF THE MIDWEST!!!

There are plenty of videos to check out but I'm featuring the premise of all their promos . . . That this town has somehow "changed" just because we've gone into an exorbitant amount of debt for a lot of projects that don't turn a profit.

A few other clips also deserve a peek.

C-Level Executives is a great term to describe most of the people who wear suits in this town.

GenKC shows a recent, local business-y event where young professionals might have "networked" or at least lied about their bank teller job while searching for a random hookup.

The most deplorable video features young professionals talking about living, working and playing in Kansas City, an affordable place to live with big city opportunities, arts and entertainment . . . Which is only the case for young people with rich parents. In fact, when somebody mentions 20-somethings buying a house I'm almost thinking this was made pre-Housing Crash.

And then a nice "Fast Cities" ranking from Fast Company for Kansas City is nearly as impressive as the rate that advertisers are abandoning print media.

Again, all of this stuff is very hopeful and sweet but mostly lies . . . It sorta reminds me of recent promos for The Royals except that those guys know not to over-promise when it comes to the hype involving their sub-par product that always disappoints.
