While TKC priorities have more to do with respecting the work of pr0n star Ashlynn Brooke, I still want to protect life during this dangerous time of year.
And now it seems that looking out for pets is a priority amid sometimes dangerous Spring weather. I guess it makes sense, if they were really thinking about pushing this silly effort to its logical conclusion I guess they could switch tornado warnings to that inaudible frequency that only dogs can hear.
It's also worth nothing that while Alvin Brooks gives Animal lovers crying for dead dogs a bit too much respect, he notes the obvious disparity when it comes to funds raised for murder victims on the Eastside and SO MUCH MORE cash thrown the way of dead dogs.
Nevertheless, check out PETA's latest presser which provides info on keeping dogs safe in yet another circumstance where poor, urban humans are pretty much ignored.

PETA OFFERS KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS URGENT INFORMATION FOR SAFEGUARDING ANIMALS DURING TORNADO SEASON
Group Warns Against Leaving Animals Behind to Fend for Themselves
Kansas City, Mo.— Now that tornado season is in full swing, PETA is offering important advice for ensuring the safety of companion animals should residents experience major storm damage or flooding and be forced to evacuate. Please alert your audience to the following information, which could help save the lives of cats, dogs, birds, and other companion animals who need to be included in tornado and other disaster preparation plans:
* If a tornado is expected in your area and you evacuate, never leave your animals behind. If the tornado is a threat to you, it's a threat to them. If you seek safety within your residence, be sure to include all your animals. If the storm causes flooding, never leave your animals outdoors, tied up, or confined in any way, as they will be trapped and unable to flee rising waters.
* Know your destination ahead of time. Although human shelters often refuse animals, motels in the area will probably accept dogs, cats, and other small animals in an emergency. Do not plan to leave animals unsupervised in a car; they can suffer from heatstroke once ambient temperatures rise above 70 degrees, even if water is provided and the windows are slightly open.
* Place small animals in secure carriers and keep dogs leashed. Frightening sounds and unfamiliar surroundings may make them bolt. Take water and food bowls, your animal's favorite toy or blanket, a towel, and enough food for at least a week.
* Have your animals microchipped, and put secure, legible ID tags on them.
* Watch for other animals in need, including strays and animals who are left behind by neighbors. If you see an animal in distress and are unable to help, note the animal's condition and location and call authorities for help as soon as possible.

Blah Blah Blah, its much easier to raise funds once a year than it is on a weekly basis... not saying its right but when you try fund raise monthly people become desensitized. I don't care if its murder victims, neglected dogs, or cookies at some point people realize that money doesn't make a damn bit of difference.
ReplyDeletedoubt it.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that people still need to be instructed on how to care for their pets without resorting to abandoning them in an emergency pretty much tells the whole story.
ReplyDeletePathetic
take the dog, leave the nigger.
ReplyDeleteWell, since we're going to get all irate with the dog lovers who were able to raise the funds quickly, let's go ahead and ask the really important question.........the 2 slain pitbulls, were they white, black, or brown? If they both were white, then I think your outrage may be justified! woof woof
ReplyDeleteOh bullshit... tie the little freeloaders to a fire plug and go back for 'em later.
ReplyDeleteAnimal rights activists make me wanna kick a sick cat.
