Interesting . . . Once again TKC TIPSTERS warned us of a recent local development before anybody else . . .
Police board extends mandatory retirement age
Nevertheless . . .
EARLIER THIS WEEEK AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS REVEALED this move identified by a KCMO FOP as "a mistake that could result in long-term detrimental problems for our Department on many fronts."
Strange . . . The Star is reporting this as a win and KCPD Chief Corwin is on paper supporting both sides of the issue . . .
Here's a comment today: "The move also benefits the department by retaining experienced officers, Corwin said."
However here's KCPD Chief Corwin's stance in documents obtained by AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS earlier in the week: "Chief Corwin, supported the FOP's position that the BOPC should not make any change to the mandatory retirement age . . ."
However, the perspective by the so-called paper of record is skewed . . .
A GREAT MANY RANK AND FILE KCPD EMPLOYEES VIEW THIS MOVE AS NOTHING MORE THAN A CUT IN THEIR BENEFITS BY INCREASING THE RETIREMENT AGE!!!
It's just interesting to see Star reporting so easily propagandized and ignoring the perspective of so many civic employees facing the consequences of austerity.

ReplyDeleteThe people at the star can't think in terms of retirement, that place is day to day. But you're right they buy into that propaganda. It's a BAD deal for the coppers.
A win for Corwin and a loss for public safety. So what else is new?
ReplyDeleteUnder Corwin's watch crime has just gotten worse in Kansas City, and no one seems to care.
What all this means is that KCPD will just have more older officers sitting behind desks.
ReplyDeleteThey won't risk getting an older officer injured so they would have to pay workers compensation.
Considering that cops typically get killed on the day before retirement, this will help them live longer, fuller lives. This also reduces the need for their hotshot young replacements to waste valuable police time seeking revenge/justice.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Funniest comment of the week. THANK YOU!
ReplyDelete08:36 that is brilliance, deadpan genius.
ReplyDeleteMore Alvin Brooks, Steve Bough attacks on unions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of welfare queens. Pigs at the trough. Convenience store clerks have a more dangerous job than cops do.
ReplyDeleteThink bigger...this has a great many implications.
ReplyDeleteill be glad when that dirt bag police chief is gone.
