In this situation . . . I can understand the frustration of Kansas City Animal Activists dealing with City Hall.
A rather awesome TKC TIPSTER made it plain regarding recent KC Animal Shelter Developments: "What's going to happen is this: The City Will Run An Animal Death Camp."
Here's the news that just came down a few minutes ago:
City to run animal shelter temporarily
Behind the scenes . . . I wouldn't expect much progress on this because of a change of Administration . . . But here's the important part:
KANSAS CITY ANIMAL LOVERS AND VOLUNTEERS CAN SAVE US ALL A BUCK AND RUN THINGS FAR MORE EFFICIENTLY AND MORE HUMANELY THAN CITY HALL!!!
According to sources close to this impending Kansas City hot mess, a non-profit group of animal lovers sound a lot more qualified to run a new KC Animal Shelter than the current RFP going out "to the lowest bidder."
Still, there's the question of political will.
"(Council Lady) Cindy Circo seems to have washed her hands of this . . ." An insider notes.
Sadly, her new power as Mayor Pro Tem doesn't look like it will benefit local doggies.
In the meantime . . . Kansas City will have the pleasure of taking over an animal shelter that's already been condemned twice and also represents what many are calling an "environmental hazard."
All the while . . . A few dedicated volunteers are banging their heads against the wall dealing with City Hall bureaucracy that's often powered by personal vendetta. Think about this: The KC Animal Shelter runs on a budget worth many millions and sees anywhere from 6-7k Animals . . . A volunteer group like Wayside Waifs deals with just as many pets, tries to find homes for a lot of them and runs on cash from private donors at a fraction of the cost.
TKC can't help but give serious consideration to doggie lovers who save Kansas City money.
Developing . . .
Finally someone gets it right! Thanks Tony! I say give it to those that can actually do the job...NOT THE CITY, who failed miserably when they had it two years ago!
