TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT INCIDENT REPORT SEEMINGLY EMPHASIZES SILENCE!!!

Here's another reason why The Kansas City, Missouri School District isn't changing for the better: The Current Administration and Leadership remain far too worried about media image rather than the problems facing students.

To wit . . .

A RATHER KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER RECENTLY FORWARDED A BLANK KCMSD INCIDENT REPORT MY WAY!!! THE FORM REVEALS A GREAT DEAL OF EMPHASIS ON MEDIA CONTACT AND IMAGE MANAGEMENT INFO!!!

Click the link or the image for an even larger view of this PR obsessed incident report:

The form asks: "Do you anticipate this will become a media issue?" Along with: "Has the media contacted you: ____ Yes ____ No If yes, who?"

The AWESOME TKC TIPSTER who sent this my way noted, "A KCMSD Doc Attempts To Stop Snitching!"

The emphasis on secrecy is obvious but ultimately unproductive. Eventually, secret arson, fighting and chaos in KCMSD schools becomes known to the public in much the same way this form shows us all that Administrators worried about potential damage control in the media and not much about anything happening in the classroom.

DEVELOPING . . .

Comments

  1. If your tiresome KCMSD insider "tipsters" spent anywhere near as much time actually doing their jobs and helping young people get an education as they do bellyaching about the district we'd all be alot better off.
"Seemingly" is not the most factual kind of word to lead a "breaking news story".
I guess the district will have to invite you to more free dinners.

  3. It would take the school board to rewrite the policy to open the schools up to the media... and it's a good idea if they really are interested in community involvement.

Media coverage INSIDE the schools, showing students in classes-- not sidewalk shots--- is good to reinvolve the community.

Yes, the good with the bad. I submit parents WANT to see what their kids do at school but sadly the mentality is to shut out the media. And hide behind 'privacy'.

Seeing the problems will help parents understand their role in raising their children to be good citizens even at school-- their first social experience of life.

Conversely, they can also see that good things happen at school if the TV stations will commit to covering education rather than just ripping it.

It can be done. I used to do it. Doing it well only takes some training for principals who should be able to handle 4 TV stations without media minders from downtown.

If the school board isn't willing to open up the schools to the community through the press, then maybe we need new school board members next election!!

  4. Just what the kids need is news cameras in the school so they can have the stupidity on the news. The parents of the kids at that school don't care what their kids are doing. That's why they do the assaults and arsons and robberies. There is NO place for news cameras in a school. Its not hard to stop babying these fucking ghetto thugs. The problem is the parents and you pussy ass citizens who wont the teachers beat asses or the police beat these punks assess.

  5. Airick?

Are you too busy now that you're the Treasurer of the Missouri Democratic Party?

Just don't have the time for all this School District stuff anymore?

This lame "let the Administrative Staff handle it all, we wouldn't want Board members to get involved" spin doesn't work when you have actual fires being started in what was once a good school, when you have three principals quit in one school in one year, and when girls get beaten bloody in school, and THE DISTRICT doesn't get her medical care, and THE DISTRICT fails to call the police.

    Airick?

    Airick?

Do you have some inspiring words for us? Are you too busy?

  6. All year long we have been witnessing the death-rattles of the KCMO School District.

Now that it's clear that the District is NEVER going to do a decent job, can we NOW start to discuss VOUCHERS, so kids and parents have some CHOICES?

Can we now start to act like the KIDS are our priority? Not "THE DISTRICT"?

  7. Forget death rattles. Good or bad, jurisdictions live forever.

As to the kids posing for TV cameras. Well everyone does. But more realistically, only middle school kids look stupid, because of their lack of discipline... and only in hallway shots.

Kds in classes tend to behave for the cam. School is THEIR WORLD... and they like it, tho they might deny it.

Roll with me on this. Maybe I know something you don't know! Have some faith in most people's desire to do good!

  8. Form reflects a complete detachment from any concern for the welfare of the students involved or the general disruption of the educational process. Note no attempt to document notififaction of parents.

  9. Airick West hs collected more monies to fund his up coming city council campaign, and you guys are giving it away. He will not run again for the KCMSD 1 he's running for 3rd Distr. At Large. KCMSD was just part of his 7 year plan.

  10. Well, if 12:05 PM is right, God help what's left of the City of Kansas City.

After all the "good" that Airick has done for the School District, what he'll do for the City will really be a disaster.

  11. If you think this is big news, wait until the parents start filing lawsuits against KCMO b/c their children have not received due process notices for expulsions and special ed suspensions.
