After the fact this doesn't really matter so much but it's important to create just a bit of buyer's remorse in Kansas City regarding the character of so many Sly James supporters.

First of all, TKC stands by a report of Mr. Peanut cash used for negative campaigning no matter what his henchman claim. Political donations to PACs aren't the Wendy's value meal . . . You don't get to pick and chose where money is spent.
Having said that . . . Last minute campaign finance reports reveal even more nasty Sly James support.

Labor groups source of last-minute cash for anti-Burke mailer . . . The Heavy Labor Construction Fund and the Operating Engineers Federal PAC — provided the money for the last-minute mailer that sharply criticized mayoral candidate Mike Burke.

The three unions join the Kansas City AFL-CIO, AFT, Firefighters, Operating Engineers, Laborers, and Heavy Construction Laborers in supporting James.
Now come to the very real conclusion . . . Mayor-elect Sly James has a lot of hypocrite friends who complained about dirty and negative campaigning as they were paying for it and pushing it all over Kansas City.

ReplyDeleteMr. James has been mayor-elect just a couple days and won't be sworn in until May, so it's just a bit early to start trying to put words in his mouth.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll find public safety THROUGHOUT KCMO will be a very high priority for him and that he'll also emphasize the importance of parental responsiblity and individual accountability in the balck community as critical parts of the neighborhood involvement in community policing to increase safety.
The time for tired old excuses for lots of folks may be coming to an end.

Don't overlook the bits of negative campaigning aimed at Mike Burke and his law firm, King Hershey, through Twitter by a former elected official who, after supporting Funky in the primary, was desperate to find a parade to jump in front of and chose Sly's.

When you've got nothing serious to say and you're just too lazy to work to get any facts, falling back on allegations and assertions is always the easiest course of action.

Like trying to offier some positive suggestions and understanding that we're all in this together and will go up or continue to fall down all holding hands, whether we like it or not.

ReplyDeleteI for one am very happy that the James campaign did whatever it took to break the grip that Jim Nutter has had on this city for far too long.
ReplyDeleteMike Burke sold himself to Jim Nutter in a sick and desparate attempt to be someone. I am glad that I am very happy that Mayor James, working with Jason and Diana, showed the strength to stand up to that kind of old-time politics.
Nutter is a physically filthy old man. I have seen him in public places looking like a street bum, unshaven and ordering people around.
I am glad that we now have a reform mayor and young leadership who can finally break the ties with the old Pendergast gang.
Now it is on to the county courthouse to clean up the remaining rot there.
We can have clean government as long as we support this reform movement and the young leaders who understand modern campaigns.
This all makes me feel much better about Kansas City.
I agree with Hyde Park. Whatever needed to be done to beat Nutter and that old witch Dutch Newman was necessary.
