From an online photo account: MO House Committee unveils its version of Missouri's updated congressional map.
The Star's political blog attempts to explain things without explaining much . . . The question that's really in play is if Congressional Redistricting is going to gerrymander Congressman Cleaver or any other African-American out of a seat.
So long, farewell.
ReplyDeleteIf you have the numbers of black voters moving out of Cleaver's district that are leaving KCMO, there's no way to gerrymander a safe district for him, which is what was done in the first place.
ReplyDeleteHe barely won re-election last year and is unlikely to make it in 2012.
Goodbye millions of dollars for night hoops, the Green Zone, and all the other unaccounted for waste that disappears east of Troost.
Thank goodness the Governor can veto this map!
ReplyDeleteWhy do we want him to veto the map? We need Cleaver (AKA MR. Obamacare) out.
ReplyDeleteFor people to act like Cleaver is against this map is total BS. The Democratic perfoormance of this district goes UP with the redraw. Cleaver is knee deep simply covering his ass and putting all of the Dem areas in west MO in his distr4ict. Problem for us is that it will keep and D from EVER being viable in the 4th or the 6th ever again. Once again, Cleaver looks out for hyimnself and screws everyone else. Subplot: See how the district is now gerrymandered so far south to oddly place Mike Sanders Independence home in the 6th? Hmmmmmm. Accident?
ReplyDeleteDemocrat performance only goes up because the state performance in Ray, Saline and the parts of Clay are between 53% and 59%. Federal performance actually drops significantly to roughly 50% when these areas are figured in. That is a major drop.
ReplyDeleteCleaver is the most benign sort of negro leader. White folks should love having him there. He cares not about blacks.
ReplyDeleteSend Beaver Cleaver home.
ReplyDeleteMichael Fletcher for Congress!!
