Chief Corwin's blog explains The Impact Of The Loss of the E-Tax on The KCPD
There's a link to a PDF "educational" presentation on The City Hall site. This is now a full court press. The language used is authoritative and quite certain . . . Kinda hard to argue with . . . It'll be interesting to see "GOP law & order types" raise an arguement in this instance.
Developing . . .
If KCPD spent even a small percentage of the time and skill they spend on PR and PowwerPoint presentations on actually working to curb crime and solve murders, we'd all be alot safer.
ReplyDeleteIt's way past time for some management and accountablity of this most expensive department funded by the KCMO general fund.
They are walking pretty close to the fire on ethical grounds here. Scare tactics are bad for everyone.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for Corwin to leave.
ReplyDeletefuck them...they can pay for their own lunch at Capital Grill.
ReplyDeleteAre you seriously scared of charts, graphs, numbers and facts? God, you scare easy. Loss of funding for KCPD=Cuts to the department. It's not a scare tactic. I thought the power point was pretty clear-cut and unemotional. Sorry if the facts scared you though...
ReplyDeleteethical grounds? what about that lower post where camp anti-tax pays for your vote with their shady mystery money?
ReplyDeleteFine. Those cuts are acceptable. Start with Project Dare....which is inefective. Stop arresting drug users. Leave the feds to handle the drug supply...its interstate commerce anyway.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the outyear numbers are provable. There will be other funding sources...probably an increase in sales or property taxes, or even coming back with a more modest income tax.
This was all scare tactics.
I'm still waiting to see if we have more FIREMEN per population, or structures than most cities. The number of fires is way down due to better building codes and less smoking.
I have received two copies of that power point seen in the graphic. The amount of blue ink spent on that would be a lifetime supply for me and everyone I know.
ReplyDeleteMore: I think it is crossing an ethical line for the police to engage in a political campaign.
And firing Woody Cozad was not only unethical and a violation of first amendment rights, but revealing that KCPD is part of a totalitarian regime that rules our City government.
6:27...if you have a job, how long would you last getting paid by your employer and at the same time by the people trying to cut your company's revenue stream by 40% ? You are a moron.
ReplyDeleteWasn't this whole anti e-tax thing started by a Union Busting Re-Thug?
ReplyDeleteKCPD is a joke.
ReplyDeleteThey report to Jefferson City.
Let them go to Jefferson City for the money.
Better yet quit using tax money to wine and dine at the Capital Grille on the Plaza. How come their power point left that out ?
6:22 PM
ReplyDeleteThose are not FACTS their number that are used to make THEIR point they left A LOT out. It's BS.
KCPD lacks the initiative to fight crime.
ReplyDelete@6:05, you can't bust curb crimes when people yell racist every time you pull over a majority race in certain neighborhoods, and the community leaders are more than willing to use ANYTHING to pull in a little more chedda'!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Go Alonzo, TKC, et. al!
and you contend that cops are stupid yet powerpoint would be the most effective way to convey information quickly. Better than City hall crime studies that don't get read for 5 years. Simplified information?
Get bent!
Vote no on the E-Tax, Go to Mahlon Davis and Alphonzo Millers web site, great web site. See your Tax dollars at work.I'm sorry are not at work.

12:22 it's not the Public that needs to read the data, It's the Police department. Wining and dining at the Capital Grille while Kansas City is ranked 9th most dangerous city in the USA shows just how out of touch the police are in this economy and community.
ReplyDeleteI have noooo problem cutting ANY police force by 40%, including Kansas City's.
ReplyDeleteGet er done! Voting NO MAS on the E-xtortion Tax.
I agree with Paul.
ReplyDeleteThe City workers have been taking cuts for years now, now it's time to Police Department to start sharing the burden. No sacred cows.
This was all scare tactics.
ReplyDeleteIt's BS.
It's an "estimated" impact.
ReplyDeleteEstimations in favor of keeping all the money of course. A lot of hot air and baloney.
IF you read it closely, it say these are the numbers if the e -tax is not replaced with a viable funding source in real small letters at the bottom I got this same power point at a meeting I attending monday night!!!
ReplyDeleteLike I said let's freeze spending at 2010 levels and have a two year adult conversation on how to change tax policy in KC and take the 40 million saved to to cover the E-tax loss for 2 years. IF sly and the new council can't come up with something in 2 years why are they our leaders!! Oh but wait it took the Feds to do something about the sewers so maybe I thinking a little to much.
your right 9:36
ReplyDeleteKCPD and their big deception attempt.
No wonder no one wants to talk to the cops. KCPD is so corrupt.
9th most dangerous city and they want more money? how about gettin off your butts and earning your keep.
ReplyDeleteWe have to learn to live within our means. I lost a job paying almost twice as much as I have now, but I made sacrifices and I'm fine. People are just too addicted to this entitlement mentality. We simply have to give up some things and wean all the lazy worthless bloodsucking losers off the government tit.
