Juxtaposition: KCK Gets Google Fiber While Kansas City, Missouri Stores Plutonium!!!

Nadia Pflaum just hit critical mass with an important journalistic work that debunks years of government assurances.

Plutonium is stored at Kansas City Plant, according to Department of Energy report

So let's get this straight . . . KCK is on the cutting edge of technology today and earns high speed networking help MEANWHILE on this crappy side of The State Line KCMO is stuck with dangerous material with a half-life that will probably outlast civilization on this planet?

Okay, maybe now the move to the suburbs makes a little bit more sense and is more akin to an evacuation.

Also, the Nadia's journalism win regarding this one is simple and elegant. Here's the money line for newsies: "The report, Plutonium Working Group Report on Environmental, Safety and Health Vulnerabilities Associated With the Department's Plutonium Storage, Volume 1, was obtained by the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Miller Nichols Library via inter-library loan."

Nice . . . And now the info is available via Google.

  1. Thank's to the E-Tax Kansas City loses another business opportunity!

  2. I like Nadia but she doesn't know what she is talking about here.

Nuclear materials are clearly NOT MANUFACTURED at the KCP.

Nuclear materials ARE USED in sources used in testing equipment.

For a better understanding of what is going on, check

    http://www.nrc.gov/materials/sp-nucmaterials.html

And buy the way, we're talking about 1.2 grams. Tony should ask his buddy Craig Glazer about just how much that is.

    Answer? Not very goddamn much.

  3. Good for KCK.

They can use every advantage they can get.

  4. E-Tax had nothing to do with it.

Google had specific market requirements to implement. Population around 100,000 was one for a test market. KCMO is over 400,000.

  5. 1:28. So are you saying the government report is lying? Nadia just quotes the report and it says the KC plant has plutonium.

It's right there in black and white.

Most of the plutonium was stored in the Funkhousers' basement. That's what created them out of what at one time were relatively normal people.

  7. The E-Tax has everything to do with it.

    Love it!
Did she say it was manufactured there?
I am one that worked at the plant, was exposed to elements ,I was NEVER TOLD WHAT THE ELEMENTS WERE.
YOU FELLA SHOULD "shut up", why don't you take not very much, of a little bit of everything we worked with at that plant home with you everyday. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A "cancer cocktail"? a litle bit of it will do you wonders, also your children before you even have them.

Also I am for the EARNING TAX.

  11. Hysterical "journalism" at its finest. Nice try Nadia but you should stick to writing about something you understand, like poser hipsters. What isotope is the plutonium at the KC facility? Is it the same type of plutonium that still exists in some older pacemakers implanted in human beings? Perhaps we should declare all these heart patients transient nuclear waste storage facilities? Do you know what "commercially available tools" means? Did you check? 1.2 grams. Do you know how much that is? Do you care? Obviously not. #FAIL

  12. The point here is (and I see a lot of you commenters are missing it): The government spokespeople lied to us. They said that the plant only handled non-nuclear components. Plutonium is as nuclear as you can get, and 1.2 grams is more than zero. Government spokespeople lied to us. Got it?

If you think 1.2 grams of Pu is not much, just inhale a billionth of that. If you're still alive in 20 years, get back to me.

I guess some people don't want to see that, but at some point they will, or someone in their family will, it may be ok for them.

If I had AIDS, was infecting your town, better yet, I'm your girlfriend's best friend, better yet your wife's soother, I should not tell them to protect themselves from my contribution, that I can make on the quality of their life. Better yet I'm your Doctor, come get the finger wave.

Nadia says the plant is MANUFACTURING nuclear parts.

That isn't what the report says.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Here's what Nadia says, dimwit:

"The report contradicts longtime assurances from the plant's owner, Honeywell, and government agencies including the National Nuclear Security Administration, the General Services Administration and EPA Region 7 that the Kansas City Plant manufactures only non-nuclear parts for nuclear weapons."

She equates the PRESENCE of plutonium with the MANUFACTURE of nuclear parts.

That's not what the report says.

  17. The government didn't lie.

You're too narrowly focused on the word "nuclear" and clearly have no clue as to what you are talking about.

The device that contained the plutonium was neither a component of the missiles nor a part that was manufactured for use in ballistic missiles.

It was a radioactive source as is commonly used analytical testing devices. Very similar to X-Rays.

And yes, my wife's grandfather was a machinist at BFC and died from the effects of chronic beryllium poisoning.

So get off your stupid high horse of victimization and get the facts.

  18. Nadia (or 2:24)

You do not seem to understand what you are reading.

STORING radioactive isotopes (and especially sealed sources, as the government report says) IS NOT the same as MANUFACTURING radioactive warhead parts.

The government, et. al. said they did not manufacturing radioactive parts. That is true.

    They did not lie.

Doesn't mean there isn't a whole lot of other shit to pick on out there.

It's just with this one, you're chasing your tail.

Sorry to hear about your wife's grandfather, sure hope he wasn't one of the guy's that worked for me there in Dept.95,93and many other machining departments, sure hope your wife doesn't ever suffer any symtoms.

No I am not a victim, I am a Vietnam Veteran WAS exposured to Agent Orange (HAVE NOT FILED FOR COMPENSATION)! Worked at the BFC, was DIRECTLY EXPOSED to MANY TOXIC ELEMENTS, and have not filed a claim! NOPE NOT A VICTIM MY MAN, but I'll be around just incase your wife suffers any problems, riding in on my HIGH HORSE!

btw: DID YOUR FATHER IN LAW TELL YOU WHAT HE DID AT BFC?

NNSA MAY WANT TO TALK TO YOU.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Also people should understand, the GOVERNMENT HAS PUBLICLY ADMITTED THEY MISLED PUBLIC AND FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS, but for some reason some of you don't want to see that.
Hey, I'm a good american, when you are wrong, you are wrong, if I run a red light, I pay the ticket. If I commit a crime, get caught I go to court, have a trial and get judged, THATS THE AMERICAN WAY. For some reason people don't want the Bannister Workers to have their day in court. I would love to have you NAY SAYERS on the jury
to see how you deal out justice, GOD BLESS america. I am confident I can put my fate in your hands.
Yes they have lied, MANY TIMES, TO FEDERAL AGENCIES, you want to hear about it, let go to court!

  21. Who the hell is Nadia Pflaum?

  22. Nadia does it again Maurice Copeland is not going to quit until every one of the dirty little secrets are out in the open. So the report which they did not want to tell people about is available on interlibrary loan. We are being governed by a bunch of incompetents that can not even tell us a good lie and cover their rear.

We all have ailments that we could attribute to some type of chemical exposure or another. Was it the sun? Cigarettes? Bacon? Who knows?

I worked directly with large quantities of 245T (the active ingredient in Agent Orange) when it was made out at Thompson-Hayward Chemical Company on Speaker Road.

I've worked with radioactive materials and high energy sources in private industry; I've worked with PAH's (Poly-aromatic Hydrocarbons)- among the most cancerous of all substances known- poisons, biohazards and lots of other toxic goodies.

And I've been following the reports and events at BFC for some time.

Yeah, a lot of nasty shit happened to a lot of folks and I'm sorry about your own situation as well as that of other people. In some cases, it is tragic and inexcusable. This all needs to come out.

However, in regards to this particular matter, Nadia, no matter how well intended, did not find another smoking gun.

And she, her employer and the public would be better served if her efforts were focused on real stuff and not chasing phantoms.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The smoking gun is THE DAMN GOVERNMENT LIED AND COVERED IT UP, PEOPLE DIED AND ARE DYING...YOU ALL DON'T GET IT.
Okay folks, I guess I have to be nasty too, NAW , I won't do that.
Let me try this on you, which you will probably find very uneventful.
The Management of the complex, which you have heard before, built a DAYCARE ON CONTAMINATED GROUND, KNOWING IT WAS CONTAMINATED, BUT DENYING IT. NOW WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THAT...IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT
YOU ARE VERY DIM. Shit happens, you are so right. When the SHIT HAPPENS TO YOUR FAMILY...remember shit happens in threes!
