Hey Cameraman is the first to show us images from today's Google Fiber To KCK presser . . . Obviously, it's very nice.
However, on the KCMO side of the State Line this can only be seen as yet another FAIL.
Once again this town is passed over and our politicos, institutions and important people lose out to much smaller competition within looking distance.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great victory for KCK students and everyone else . . . Almost like a digital blessing really . . . But also another sign of Kansas City, Missouri FAIL. Remember that when TV News footage of so much celebration is broadcast.
Google Picks KCK As 1st Fiber Community
Google picks Kansas City, Kan., for fiber investment
Kansas City, Kansas Gets Google Fiber
Google to Make KCK Fastest Internet
Unless KCMO gets some splash back on this one, this move offer should inspire rather bloggy emotions around here comprised of nothing but envy and fear.
It is more like a Topeka fail. You can probably thank Fred Phelps and a city clowncil stuck in the dark ages.
ReplyDeleteKansas City. Home to losers.
ReplyDeleteYou should have left the Sly James Ethics Violation post on top T.
ReplyDeleteKansas City Missouri 300 square miles, Kansas City Kansas 70 square miles.
ReplyDeleteKCK probably stole this from KCMO. Darns those pesky Kansans!
ReplyDeleteAs the miserable, drunken, crippled giant of the metro, KCMO deserved to get this.
Vote No E-Tax Kansas City, Mo. is losing out !
ReplyDeleteMaybe KCMO can get Twitter Fiber. Since it's not making any money.
ReplyDeleteI live in Kansas City, Kansas people are so excited about this. This will be the fastest internet in the World ! Lots of jobs and opportunities for business to align with Google and the fastest service in the World.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kansas City, Missouri you LOST !
Kansas City has a population of about 146,000 people, according to recent census figures.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Content Mill Authors.
Ummm, KCMO is about 4+ times bigger than the size of city Google was looking for, so KCMO never really had a shot. KCK and Topeka were the only two serious contenders in our area. Nice job, KCK!
ReplyDeleteBoo to Tony for creating yet another fake fail.
As long as it is in spanish, KCK will be happy.
ReplyDeleteIts the E TAX
ReplyDeleteKCK builds for the 21st Century and KCMO pins its hopes for the future on conventineers and drunks.
ReplyDeleteNo contest!
Too bad KCMO has to compete with an entire state for tax and financing incentives. Can't do it.
ReplyDeleteHo0nestly, Tee, you spend too much time thinking of the KCMO jurisdiction.
ReplyDeleteI think most people look at the metro as an entity of multiple parts, none of which are particuarly important.
I see Google to KCK as a win, while you see it as a loss.
Ya'd think you worked for city government on the mo side.
You can be sooooo parochial sometimes!
PS, like that moron ALonzo. He should pick the ten or twelve counties and keep murder stats on ALL of them, not just some arbitrary jurisdiction run by the KC Mayor and Council.
ReplyDeleteMoreover KCK is important as is JOCO, and CLCO, PLCO, LVCO and the others nearby.
You bloggers just don't think big enough. I'd even consider throwing Lawrence in with us, actually because we are so intertwined. Our kids go there. Their people work here.
So don't be so borough oriented! We're a big city.
Another PS. IF you actually identified with the entire metro, you wouldn't be sitting on the fence, in fear of the KCMO bureocrats who no doubt have leaned on you very hard about the earnings tax.
ReplyDeleteYou have sure rolled over to your innercity tipsters, I've noticed. Did they put the fear of God in you?
Not everyone in this (larger) town gives a shit if they stay on the KCMO government TIT.
You probably do because you'd be damned nothing without your city hall people, would you?
Time to grow up and think bigger. KCMO just isn't the cat's meow as they think they are!
Moreover, Johnson County isn't one of the wealthiest and most influential counties in the country for nothing! They're our "orange county".
So quit pretending youre a ghetto resident. You're not.
And neither are we.
