THE TKC WEEKLY POWER RANKINGS!!!

We can't all be as strong as Penny Mathis but this week was a historic one in Kansas City Proper and here are the most powerful players.

POLITICOS

1. TRACY WARD - She worked harder than any Kansas City politico out there, she got into the General Election with no support from special interests AND she shocked just about everyone with her outsider campaign.

2. RYAN SILVEY - A unanimous House vote on an amendment from Budget Committee Chairman Ryan Silvey, R-Kansas City, to requires Gov. Jay Nixon, as well as future governors, to post travel expenses on the Missouri Accountability Portal, a website dedicated to tracking state government spending. THIS WAS A DIRECT SLAP IN THE FACE TO GOV. JAY AND EARNED SUPPORT FROM MISSOURI DEMOCRATS TOO!!!

3. JASON AND DIANA KANDER - The force behind Sly James momentum. They've always been serious power players, and this week the took their game to the next level.

4. JIM GLOVER - Nobody expected his come from behind victory and he made a strong display of his name recognition.

5. MIKE BURKE - He picked up all the right momentum at the last moment. Impressive.

NEWSIES

1. HEY CAMERAMAN - This Kansas City digital news gatherer is podcasting, blogging and just being AWESOME. He is one of this town's best.

2. Kris Ketz - A digital, mainstream gold standard that you can follow on Twitter.

3. Christina Medina - AWESOME reporting on all things Kansas City. Definitely a rising star to watch.

4. Joe Arce - The gold standard in Community Reporting.

5. Eric Wesson - Covering his community and all of Kansas City with much needed perspective that speaks for thousands that would otherwise go without a voice.

PEOPLE

1. KATIE DAILY - If you haven't been yelled at by this Kansas City political consultant then you aren't talking to the right people!!!

2. JOHN LANDSBERG - Kansas City's media referee has one of the most accurate scorecards in town.

3. BILL NIGRO - I love to give him a hard time about his bad ideas but after all is said and done he is a very nice guy who honestly has the best interests of Kansas City at heart.

4. DR. CHARLES WHEELER - He picked right, proves that he's still active and relevant at more than 80 years-old and endeared himself to a whole new set of political watchers.

5. CRISPIN REA - Doing his best for Kansas City's Northeast and really a believer in a better Kansas City, Missouri School District to which he is dedicating so much time, without pay.

As always, this list has been compiled according to scientific TKC polling and market research data and it’s a comprehensive & definitive weekly guide to local powerful people.

  4. Tracy Ward got her pink-haired ass handed to her by a 2 to 1 margin, as she will in the general. That's a win?

  5. Tony, be a good sport and for once give Funk a place on this list.

  6. A Glover win will set the 4th back by years. He will reward his friends and ignore everyone else. Glover can't listen.

  7. Interesting, Tony.

Mike Burke makes your list, but Sly James does not. But of course, the Kanders, "the force behind Sly James" does.

So I guess a white guy can win a mayoral primary all by himself, but a black guy needs a couple of white handlers?

  8. Crispin Rea is just another political hack.

  9. Only thing "rising" about Cristina Medina is her weight.

  10. The Kanders are the only power players on this list.

  11. Glover ingnor his constituents? Must be a democrat.

  12. Would someone please clarify what Tracy Ward has done to continuously top your weekly power players list?

P.S. I am hearing that Jacob Turk was at the KCEB results watching for her. That in itself tells me not to vote for her.
