I've spoken with 4th District At-Large Candidate John Crawford and return candidate Jim Glover and for the moment they're both going to try to keep this race classy.
Nevertheless . . . There's an important question that this election should settle once and for all.
Check it:
"THE GLOVER PLAN" OR "THE MIDTOWN PROJECT" -- JUST WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO CALL THE KANSAS CITY DEVELOPMENT ON LINWOOD AND MAIN ???
Personally, nothing is as important as the goodness @ Linwood Chinese Express but it's important to be exact and this issue is at the crux of the debate regarding political reputations in the 4th District At-Large contest.
Developing . . .
The fact that Crawford has to debate this issue kinda says it all.
ReplyDeleteLol.
Call it a pineapple and move on! Taking credit for something that happened years ago isn't going to do much for KCMO going forward.
ReplyDeleteLet's talk about some collaborative efforts to get the murder rate under control, these candidates' position on a new hotel, having an effective development strategy that benefits THE WHOLE CITY, fixing the housing department mess, and other municipal issues that we need to address in the months and years ahead.
This is an argument over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin and a complete waste of time.
agreed.although, glover has taken credit for this entire project while crawford got the financing for it which is just childish.
ReplyDeleteglover needs to move forward and move on.
Did they discuss unsolicited bulk e-mail?
ReplyDeleteNeither should be that proud of the fact that it ends up on the underperforming TIF/watchlist more often than not.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU. 9:26
ReplyDeleteAre either of them worthy of inheriting Beth's seat?
ReplyDelete9:47: Both appear sane, so that's a step in the right direction. I doubt that either will be quoted in the Wall Street Journal as having anti-immigration protesters marching ourside their gated communities.
ReplyDeleteAs for what the call the midtown shopping center, when it appeared it was a no-go, prople called it "Glover's Field," so now that it's working the "Glover Plan" seem appropriate.
9:53 - what are you implying about Beth?
ReplyDeleteA Glover win will be a huge setback for the 4th. Jim is a good person but very difficult to work with. He holds grudges and doesn't listen well. To date he has been arrogant about the people that didn't support him despite the fact that he barely ran a campaign.
ReplyDeleteCrawford compromises and his heart is in the right place. He has an uphill battle against Glover's name recognition.
Glover plan is what it has always been called. No matter who help out the head guy get the glory! So lets keep it Glover's plan.
ReplyDeleteWhich candidate is for or against unsolicited bulk e-mail?
ReplyDeletewhat is the difference between un solicited email and the tons of crap unsolicited paper mail we get? who cares you dumbshit if its unsolicited email which causes no carbon footprint except for minimal electricity vs postcards which requiers paper to print and gas to transport from printer to 15000 mailboxes. give it up you moron
ReplyDeleteWhen Glover left in 1999, he locked himself in his office until the precise minute the Charter said he had to surrender his office. The incoming Councilman was the only newcomer who had not been given access to his new office and was standing in the hall waiting.
ReplyDeleteNo one should want it that bad. Go with Crawford and leave the stage three clingon behind.
See CAUCE
ReplyDeleteWhy would you trust someone who doesn't follow the rules of the mail service they use to follow other rules?
ReplyDelete10:23: See http://www.pitch.com/2007-08-02/news/ghost-patriots/
ReplyDeleteMoving on? Instead of "moving on" and not talking about the Glover Plan, how about Glover, Sharp, Eddy, Ford, Bachus, Brooks and Curls move on. Tired of these re-treads.
ReplyDeleteHow bout the get used to fighting over whatever scraps remain of the American Dream for the rest of your human existence plan?
ReplyDeleteI thought Warren Buffet just announced that he is excited about the future of this country?
ReplyDeleteGlover has been a politician for THREE DECADES for Pete's sake.
ReplyDeleteHe is the ultimate re-tread. Whether its Crawford or someone else, Glover needs to find another existence. He's the prime example of someone who cannot stop running for office.
Remember Harold Stassen?
Warren Buffet has never met and had to work with the carnival performers that are regualrly elected to the KCMO city council!
ReplyDeleteAn earlier post is right on the money: Glover;Bacchus:Sanders Brooks; Sharp; Curls?
Get rid of them all! KCMO has some very serious challenges that will require a whole new way of doing things and that's not going to happen with this tired old crowd and their hangers-on.
There are also some great opportunities and you don't want to lose them like the soccer stadium was lost.
It's time for a big voter turnout and way past time to get serious!
Crawford---classy???? Yea right.
ReplyDeleteWorthy of Beth's seat? OMG, LOL. Are either space cases?
ReplyDeleteAn atomic blast for this story?
ReplyDeleteYou must have way more nukes than there are targets, Tee.
Anon 2:39 -- are you implying Beth is a space case? She is most definitely not.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:55 -- what do you think of the links about spam?
ReplyDeleteBeth is a left wing nut job.
ReplyDelete3:51-Alternative point, Beth is a nut job. Either way, it's accurate.
ReplyDelete2:26: yeah, using four question marks at the end of your sentences doesn't make you look like a 13-year-old AOL user at all. It makes you look very mature and classy. You're DEFINITELY in a position to call people on their classiness.
ReplyDeleteBeth was quoted as saying that serving on the council gave her the opportunity to pursue her passion for public safety.
ReplyDeleteDuring her term on the council, there have been an average of two murders every single week of all four years.
Beth is delusional!
Anyone on this blog who does not think Beth is crazy, is either Beth or Jim. The only thing Beth did that was good was FINALLY voting to get rid of Cauthen. This is why I do not support Cathy or her husband.
ReplyDeleteBeth should run for office again.
ReplyDeleteI have heard the story about Glover staying in his office until the last minute. Let's face it, he has been in office so long he doesn't know what else to do.
ReplyDeleteLet's move on, get a real job Jim Glover.
Beth is one of the few politicians classy enough to do a great job for one term and then bow out.
ReplyDeleteSpam is a huge problem on the internet. All politicians should be against spam (that includes, obviously, not sending spam).
ReplyDeleteSpam IS a huge problem on the internet. And you're spamming the internet with all of your "unsolicited bulk email" rants that waste everybody's time.
ReplyDelete5:57 -- are you 5:17 too?
ReplyDelete9:47, 4:39, 5:07, hi Beth, how was the bus ride home today?
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:20 -- Beth has many fans. Why would you imply she would post here herself (or even read this blog)?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Beth has many fans. And probably many space heaters as well.
ReplyDelete5:57 here; no, I'm not.
ReplyDeleteWhy does this blog always return to just one or two topics?
ReplyDeleteIt was the Glover Plan when it was a vacant lot that no one thought would become anything. Once it took off, it became "The Midtown Plan," and Glover was quickly shoved aside.
ReplyDeleteBecause, you know, Kansas Citians are sort of bitchy like that.
