TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! MIKE BURKE PICKS UP IMPORTANT KC BIZ PAC AND DOWNTOWN COUNCIL PAC MAYORAL ENDORSEMENT!!!

Mike Burke is a busy man.

Today I caught up with him at the offices of  The Kansas City Hispanic News.

Look for Publisher Joe Arce to file an extensive story sometime soon.

But here's something I want to report before anybody else . . .

KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE MIKE BURKE RECENTLY PICKED UP TWO IMPORTANT ENDORSEMENTS FROM THE KC BizPAC AND THE DOWNTOWN COUNCIL!!!

KC BizPAC, the Political Action Committee of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce in Partnership with the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City is now on board with Mike Burke after initially supporting Deb Hermann.

Meanwhile The Downtown Council PAC split their endorsement between Deb Hermann and Jim Rowland during the Primary and now have decided to support Mike Burke.

These are BIG MONEY and INFLUENTIAL endorsements . . . So it's clear that Burke has continued to pick up steam as he moves into The General Election.

Additionally, nobody would be surprised to see Northaland PAC ForwardKC jumped aboard the Burke Bandwagon as well.

  1. Do these groups screen candidates based on candidate pledges not to send unsolicited bulk e-mail?

  2. No, they endorse candidates who make believe they agree with them that downtown KCMO is the most important priority for city government and that that's where most of the taxpayers' money should be spent.
Keep your new hotel in mind and factor that into the other projects you're already making bond payments for. Pretty soon, that's where ALL the money will be going.

  3. He must promised them that downtown hotel. Watchout KC.

  4. It will be Kay's world again before you know it. Hold onto your wallets KC!

  5. These endorsements are SO HUGE and IMPORTANT! Look how much good they did Hermann and Rowland!

  6. All these Johnson County guys with the K C Chamber and Downtown Council are racists!!

  7. Burke is going to win. That's it.

  8. Just wait and see if Burke doesn't wind up buying a big ad space in KC Hispanic News. Quid quo pro.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Forward KC is not a PAC. They aren't even organized enough to get out the vote. If Burke is counting on those do-nothings to deliver, he'll be disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Burke has made so many promises around town there's not enough boards & commissions to hold them all.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It's all bullshit. Why endorse at all. Support is okay and if they can write a check than fine but why don't people let the voters decide?

    ReplyDelete
  12. forward kc was the only group to endorse mike brown in the 6th while everoyone else endorsed mr. cathy jolly. a two term state rep vs a dude who will do what steve glorioso tells his wife to do.

granpa brooks was and is a stooge.

  13. The key to winning any election is to peak at the right time.

Look at where the early mayoral "front-runners" finished (4th and 5th).

Burke hit a peak just before the primary to carry him through to the general.

These latest endorsements may indicate that Burke is peaking too early, and the difficulty they present is that Burke now has to keep the momentum going through March 22 or give up the mighty momentum to Sly.

And as other the posters have so keenly pointed out, look at what these endorsements did for Hermann and Rowland.

  14. 8:08/8:09- LRP is in the house.

  15. Sly James was in the military, in the Marines in 1969. He enlisted, just like I did, and many of my friends did.

I think that is a big deal. He had to go in the same year I did. It was a different time, the draft was in effect and shit happened.

His military service, at least to me, is a really big deal.

    JMO.

  16. who the fuck is LRP

  17. Anon 7:43, if you are going to hate on Forward, at least get your facts straight. Tim Kristl is the president, but he is no racist. Meg is vp and one of the hardest working community activists around. Other board members include a member of the Port Authority, and a former Platte Commissioner. The group is hardly five guys and a girl; the board has more than two dozen members and other members as well. Can they get out the vote in the northland? That remains to be seen. But don't disparage an entire group of volunteers based on fiction.

  18. Sly James is thoughtful and intelligent. His heart and mind are in the right place. If people will get out and vote he has a good chance. Encourage people to get out on March 22nd. Sly James would make a tremendous mayor. He's got my support!

  19. Kay Barnes brought us the Power and Light fiasco (can you say $15 mil a year from the general fund to support a private enterprise) and now she supports Burke. Anyone she supports should be mighty suspect.

  20. JMO...and Ronald Reagan made me 'feel good' at the time, too. I'm a vet who voted for Reagan, and in retrospect, all he did was feed us a bunch of 'feel good' poppycock, and start us down a path of unbridled deficits, which will be the ultimate undoing of this nation. We better get off this need to 'feel good' and vote for people who can handle the job. Nobody has ANY idea what kind of mayor Sly James will be because he has NO experience or track record. Been there, done that with Funk. Not doing it again.

I hear ya, and feel the same way about Ronnie, I loved the guy.

I just think Sly can get all the disparate and contentious personalities to work together better because imo, he is a charismatic natual leader.

The last 4 years in KC have been needlessly unstable, and that says a lot when you consider that the mayor is in the end, just another vote on the council for the most part.

James ozes self confidence, I am sure he will fuck some stuff up during his ojt, but its time for some new people at city hall.

    :)

  22. LRP= Liberty Restoration Project.

They are the anarchists who are running Tracy Ward.

  23. As if a lawyer, a leach, a loser and a leper bring credibility to these backward cretins.

  24. Sly Jame is the best choice for mayor without a doubt. He has a proven track record of civic leadership and mediator so he'll be able to get people to sit down and come to a compromise when needed. This talk about him not having experience and that "we made that mistake 4 years ago" is total BS. Funk had no experience in City Hall?! He was there for 18 fucking years! Frankly, I'm sure Mr. Burke is capable. I will not argue that but my observations are that the people of KC want some new blood. Some new leadership. Well if that is the case then Burke is NOT your man. The guy was on the council in the 80's and never really left. And on top of that he has made MILLIONS off of bad deals for the City (let alone the Port Authority). The guy is a leach and I'm sick of him touting his "experience." Yeah...experience getting his client rich and himself too.
Vote for Sly and get excited about the future of our City.

  25. The Hispanic News is a pretty mediocre newspaper. What do we care what it's publisher thinks?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey Steve Glorioso (or should we call you loser as The Star does?)... Are you masquerading as 9:35? You've always tried to paint Hermann as a racist and you've had it in for Johnson for years. Why don't you slither back under your rock?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Johnson is Mr. Know-It-All.
