Hey, Bass Pro is just a poor struggling multi-billion dollar corporation! What could be fairer than to have the middle-income residents of Independence pony up for a store in their town.
ReplyDeletePublic debt and private profit, just like downtown KCMO!
That's about 5 hula poppers for every man, woman and child in Meth Town.
ReplyDeleteMakes P&L seem like a bargain!
ReplyDeleteLooks like independence is becoming like Kansas City. All you guys need is an E-Tax so the Political elite can waste even more of your money.
ReplyDeleteThe 3.5 million is not even the true loss. Some of the TIF revenue has been revenue diverted from other parts of town which would have went to the general fund if the development had not been built.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think we could have had Bass Pro at Bannister!
ReplyDeleteYou'd think that selling sporting goods with a 300% markup would be enough to pay a debt. I guess not. Times are tight, even for luxury goods. Good thing Independence is awash in tax revenue they can hand out corporate welfare.
