THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! TRACY WARD CAMPAIGN KICKOFF AND THE FUTURE OF KANSAS CITY POLITICS!!!
It was a big night for Democracy in Kansas City and a great look at the differing philosophies and approaches to local government in a struggle that seems to define this town.
6th District At-Large City Council Candidate Tracy Ward kicked off her campaign with a loyal following of supporters tonight.
The Gusto Lounge on Broadway was filled with volunteers and people sympathetic to Tracy's grassroots conception of local politics.
Think about this . . . They're attacking The Royals in London, the Tea Party cleaned house this past election and . . . AS LONG AS THIS GLOBAL ECONOMIC TURMOIL CONTINUES PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE MORE ACCEPTING OF ALTERNATIVE POLITICAL MESSAGES!!!
That's just a fact of life that strikes fear into the hearts of most mainstream politicos.
To wit, this group of locals were attentive to all the messages they heard tonight.
Mahlon Davis struck a chord with the crowd and he's the only other KC Council candidate besides Ward to mention his complete opposition to the E-Tax. We'll have more on Mahlon later . . . But it's important to note that he has caught the attention of a great many local, political insiders for his candid approach to local political issues.
Everywhere I go I notice that Brandon Ellington moves the crowd with his impassioned approach to community involvement and his earnest attempt to reach out to residents about their concerns. He differs a bit with Ward and Davis regarding the E-Tax and some other issues but whenever Ellington speaks it's interesting to see how many people take serious note of the ideas he puts forth.
The event was organized by Catherine Bleish and a great many other good folks associated with the Liberty Restoration Project . . . The LRP is a concern that has established a national network of connections and media distribution outposts. I heard they livestreamed the whole event online.
What appealed to me is that these political upstarts are taking every opportunity to talk with people in every social strata of Kansas City. Before the party Tracy noted, "I'm excited because this won't be the usual political event with tall the same faces. This is going to be a gathering of all walks of life in Kansas City."
Sadly, that attitude isn't typical in local politics where power brokers and insiders are celebrated among everyone else.
As the cold wind whipped around Broadway and dirty flakes of snow scattered across this Midtown Kansas City boulevard, I walked toward a nearby liquor store down the street and was almost comforted that a new crop of political hopefuls are springing up despite the harshest of election season circumstances.
All of this inspired tonight's playlist:
As always, thank you for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday Night.
Not bad pancho.
ReplyDeleteWe're in trouble if any of these people are elected.
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that Ward,Davis & Ellington are nothing alike however they are smart enough to know that what makes them so different is good for KCMO. This is what you call true networking.
ReplyDeleteWe are in trouble if these people are not elected. Get a life.
ReplyDeleteNow that Tracy Ward had her little election gathering, it's time for Ward and Catherine Bleish to have their "real" party. A bukkake party. I never came on Ward. Tonight might be the night!
ReplyDeleteEver ask yourself why power brokers and insiders are celebrated? Because they are smart enough to become power brokers and insiders!
ReplyDeleteEver ask yourself why the fringe and the estrange never get elected?
This shit ain't rocket science.
Tracy Ward will get 9 percent of the vote.
The best we can hope for is that our power brokers are not corrupt.
Although I will take corrupt over incompetent any day of the week.
12/11/10 10:58 PM-go to bed and come up with something worth writing.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear what Mahlon Davis has to say.
ReplyDeleteThe future of KC politics doesnt look good.
ReplyDeleteWhy because you can't make your living off the up and coming?
ReplyDeleteGo Tracy never mind those those that aren't ready for change, its here.
ReplyDeleteI like Ellington even if he is for the E tax. After listening to him tonight, I understand what the hype is about concerning him, he is someone that leaves the people wanting more,he really cares about the people white, black, yellow, brown, beige. I'm supporting Ward & Ellington and I admire and respect Davis. Davis is outspoken and he is standing toe to toe with Circo, good for him.
ReplyDeleteEllington is working the city, he has a huge major supporter in the 4th District and she is telling everyone about him, word is out that she invited him to speak infront of some major players and they liked what they heard. Ellington has stepped up the game, hopefully the other candidates will follow suit. What a difference fours years has made for this young leader.
ReplyDeleteOut with old problems in with problem solving. I like Davis, Ellington, And Ward, And can not wait to see what Davis has to say.
ReplyDeleteDavis has my vote over circo anyday.
ReplyDeleteVote Ward!!!!
ReplyDeleteEllington I like his approach!!!!
ReplyDeleteKeep doing what you guys are doing reaching out to the voters forget the old sold out nay sayers they are just upset because they slept on you guys.
ReplyDeleteCindy Circo has to go vote Davis for change.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice that in the photos there are all of about 7 people in that room? HAHAHA! Come on Tony. You have to eventually have self respect when doing this.
ReplyDelete12/12/10 1:51 AM can you not only count but the room was packed. Try taking up knitting.
ReplyDeleteOffering good alternative public policy ideas does not mean they come from an alternative universe.
ReplyDeleteEllington is nothing like th eother two because he's a serious person with serious ideas and a candidate who has the moral courage to make a real difference at 12th and Oak.
The big "LIQUOR" sign over the little group was a ral nice touch!
Ellington is getting his message across and folks are starting to think about what he is speaking out on. Ellington is the only candidate with true desire to represent whole KCMO,starting with the 3rd district. He is very visible & accessible to the people which makes him stand out from even the mayoral candidates. He's gone to parts of the city that no elected official has gone or will go. Ellington is a young man with principals and he is serious as his motto "We Have To. Do Better". For the record Melba Curls the citizens deserve a true leadership your time is up. Enjoy your retirement.

ReplyDeleteHow many times are you going to repost! Take your meds. Don't be0a hater the world doesn't need your two faced cowardly ass.
Nobody is going to vote for someone with pink hair. It's not a "statement". It's the same reason why people with pink hair don't get hired except to sell pink hair dye.
ReplyDeleteWho votes: old people. They have blue hair, not pink hair. Old people do not think highly of pink hair, colored hair, tats, or anything of the sort.
9% of the vote? I go with 13% of the vote. But a loss none the less.
And on the subject of pink hair, how old is Tracy any way?
ReplyDeleteI was working off the assumption that she was just another neo-Libertarian 20something trying hard to be noticed through neon hair and/or tatts and facial piercings.
As I look at Tony's pictures, however, I see a 40ish person trying hard to look like a neo-Libertarian 20something while trying hard to be notice through neon hair.
It's as creepy as watching an old guy in a midlife crisis change his appearance to look like the guy on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, then sell off family minivan for a Harley Davidson.
too bad Tracy's supporters are all JOCO and Lee's Summit people who don't get to vote.
ReplyDeleteI also take it from reading this blog that Ward is against red light cameras and the E-tax.
ReplyDeleteHas she ever said what she is FOR?
Oh yeah. I remember. She is for "restoring liberty."
"AS LONG AS THIS GLOBAL ECONOMIC TURMOIL CONTINUES PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE MORE ACCEPTING OF ALTERNATIVE POLITICAL MESSAGES!!!"
ReplyDeleteSame mindset that gave us Mayor Mark Funkhouser.
Ellington gets 40 pct because melba is melba
ReplyDeleteDavis gets 35 pct because of anti-incumbent backlash against circo
Tracy gets 9 pct, not because she has pink hair, though that doesnt help, she gets 9 pct because she's running a citywide race and probably raised less than a thousand dollars at her kickoff party. Plus the anti-etax rhetoric is more fitting for a johnson co audience not kcmo. Prop a passed in kc by less than two points and it was just to vote on the measure with the largest republican turnout in city
history. Mike Brown's first 5 checks will be more than tracy raises the entire election and brown bets beat by taylor with double digits.
No experience + no money + legitimate candidates + wrong message + republican handlers + pink hair = 9 percent
Anything else is fuzzy math.

So this is our future huh?
ReplyDeleteThat Tracy chick is just scary. You boys looking to harpoon that whale, can sure have my turn at it.
ReplyDeleteThe cat in pic 3, wearing the pimp coat, looks like he should have just walked out the door of Milton's on Main- about 1982. Got him some 'Shaft' going on ;)

ReplyDeleteMr.Jolly don't be so obvious. Tracy Ward has you spinning around like crazy. Your wife can't give you your council seat its not going to be a slam dunk. So enough with all the Ward put downs!
Actually, I think 9 percent was pretty generous.
ReplyDeleteYou know, y'all can say, "judge her by what she says, not by her pink hair," but whenever I see a lady approaching middle age trying to look like a teenager by dying her hair a shocking pink, my first impression is "screwball."
And you know what? Since her hair color is her choice, then it is up to her, not me, to overcome that first impression.
Is that the best you got ! Pimping without a coat is what your elected city n state did to us! Now they are running.back here after they just won their seats and they are termed out hoping to get on the gravely train that Sanders Brooks,Riley& Curls eat from, so I understand all the filthy comments that are being made.Ward over Jolly& Brown anyway.
ReplyDeleteBrandon Ellington with are without a coat is the brightest candidate because he always gives thanks to God. Don't knock this young man at least he is not afraid to try and he has already succeeded!
"restoring liberty" ie no government, no police, just a party state where everyone behaves and there is no crime. baaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteAS LONG AS THIS GLOBAL ECONOMIC TURMOIL CONTINUES PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE MORE ACCEPTING OF ALTERNATIVE POLITICAL MESSAGES!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between alternative and bizarre. I'm not sure Tracy knows where to draw the line.
I believe that the out come is this Tracy moves on to to face Mr Brown in a head to head face off and wins by a landslide, Mahlon Davis beats Circo because people are just suck of her, Ellington vs Malba and Ellington wins.
ReplyDeleteFrom reading Mahlon Davis web page, he has a lot of compassion for the whole city not just parts of it and I really like that. We need a candidate that cares about all of Kansas City not just the "HOOD".
ReplyDeleteTracy had a preety good turn out.
ReplyDeletePink hair out not, she is the best thing for the city in the 6th District At Large race. Hands Down!!!!
ReplyDeleteAMERICA: Y UR PEEPS B SO DUM?
ReplyDeleteI think 7 is too generous, i can only count 5 people in attendance. So much for a grass roots campaign. If patrick wanted to have any chance he should have ran ward in-district against sharp and nash, at least then the gender bump and smaller area could have minimalized the money disadvantage. Hard work indistrict can make a difference, at-large those 5 folks couldn't even walk a single precinct.
ReplyDeleteThis is a two person election, mike brown versus scott taylor.
Taylor wins.
I wonder if tony will stop by taylor and brown's launch and post some pictures so we can do a little compare and contrast of support?
Okay Taylor so what's your point?
ReplyDeleteMONEY WILL NOT WIN THIS RACE, HAVE YOU NOTICED HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE OUT OF WORK? LETS GET REAL MONEY DOESN'T WIN A CAMPAIGN, VOTERS DO?
ReplyDeleteGreat bukkake party last night. Tracy Ward sucks and gives hand jobs like a pro! And to my amazment, she blew bubbles with my cum!!!!!
ReplyDelete12:27 gross / you ruin this forum / I hope your anarchist ass gets hit by a bus / wouldn't be surpried if the poster wasn't a Ward supporter trying to discredit the discussion
ReplyDelete2:25 you are delusional if you think that Scott Taylor posts on smear blogs, but I love the strategy of blaming him, why don't you frame him for the gross comments as well? We know who your worried about.
As a supporter of people who aren’t dumb asses, I hope Tracy is a few of these posts on here because candidates who spend time on blogs continue to be candidates.
As for your substance, 10-14% of the people are unemployed, 60% of the people in KCMO will not vote in this race, care to wager on what percent the unemployed make up the non-voters?
Great base strategy you got there. Typically the unemployed are not even registered to vote. Sad situation, but reality nonetheless. The fact you that you have no idea who will vote in this election just goes to show how far this race is out of your league.
Tracy gets 9 percent, and I’m in a generous mood.
BTW – why can’t the intelligent posts on here be from Mike Brown and company? Why does it have to be the white attorney who has the only functioning brain in this filthy little discussion room you racist SOB!
Tracy is a married woman with a wonderful family. Why isn't anyone saying anything to this ass hole? Respect all of us on this blog, we don't want to hear your nasty comments. It only shows that you got the hots for Tracy.
ReplyDelete12/12/10 1:37 PM-you are totally crazy, unemployed folks vote!! I know you are hoping and praying that 60% stays home and not vote but you are way off. No one mention anything about racism so you just called yourself out Mr & Mrs. Scott Jolly.
ReplyDeleteI hear a gulity plea. You don't have to degrade Tracy Ward in order to run a campaign, I wouldn't vote for Brown or you Jolly. Ward all the way.
Mahlon Davis is getting ready to drop it likes it hot. TKC are you going to cover his story or what? Let the chips fall where they may.
ReplyDeleteOk you got me... i admit it... during the day i am mild mannered international business attorney mr. Jolly... but at night... i am...
ReplyDeleteBAT MAN
Ridding cowtown city of pink haired vilians who mean to take vital city services away from senior citizens
Wish me luck
you got it Mr.Scott Jolly
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy!
ReplyDelete12/12/10 1:46 PM
ReplyDeleteI'm ready when every, and like you said let the chips fall where they may. The crap in kansas city has to be brought to the fore front. And I will do it by myself if I have to. Tony I'm ready when you are bro!!!
Let's get the party started.
ReplyDeleteIs it Cathy who introduced Bukkake to this debate?
ReplyDeleteIs she looking for some excitement?

Time for real change in KCMO
I like the pink hair, it's distracts me from her ugly mug.
ReplyDeleteyou should see that mug when its slathered with the jizz of 20 guys.
ReplyDeletePowerful ugly.
