Following Mayor Funky's money trail is always kind of fun because so many interesting names come up . . . A rather AWESOME TKC TIPSTER sent us a note about a high profile connection that has gone unnoticed so far.
This post is part of a collaboration that should shed some light on so many Kansas City Funky Mayoral missteps.
The most important part of the discussion:
MAYOR FUNKY'S CAMPAIGN ACCEPTED A LARGE CONTRIBUTION FROM AN INDIVIDUAL INVESTIGATED BY KU ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT AUDITORS FOR A POTENTIALLY INAPPROPRIATE CONTRACT WITH EMBATTLED FORMER KU ATHLETIC DIRECTOR LEW PERKINS.
Here's the story. See if you agree with the KU Chancellor.
According to the campaign disclosure filed for the period Funky received an $1800 contribution on September 7, 2010 from a James D. Badzin in Leawood, Ks.
Badzin is the President of Ceebrook Creative Concepts, a private printing and promotional products supplier based out of Overland Park, Ks.
Last year Badzin and Ceebrook, a vendor that bids on work supplying promotional items to the University of Kansas, were at the center of an ethics investigation after auditors of the KU Athletic Program questioned an $18,000 PER YEAR CONSULTING CONTRACT paid to former KU Athletic Director Lew Perkins of the scandal-plagued University of Kansas athletic department.
Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little subsequently stated that the consulting contract violated no university policy, and Perkins retired this fall after scandals involving millions of dollars of ticket sales and other insider dealings came to light.
Of course, it should come as no surprise, as in the past Badzin supported Sam Graves for Congress- the same Sam Graves that gave Funkhouser’s main man Jeff Roe his start in the biz.
The money machine just keeps going round and round . . .
If this guy can play these kinds of insider contracting games, he's really wasting his talents in Leawood. He needs to get down to 12th and Oak right away and get in line with the other grifters.
ReplyDeleteWhat an opportunity!
thats a lot of posts paid for by Henry Rizzo, fat Tony.
ReplyDeleteJust Yellow Journalism!
ReplyDeleteInteresting list of contributors to Funky's campaign. Let's see, how would I describe it? Tell me again what "pay to play" means.
ReplyDeletesmell like sour cottage cheese?
ReplyDeleteI always wondered what the moldy white stuff was that falls out from her fat rolls with every step she tries to take.
I am going to start carrying the water tomorrow for the 1st district candidate who has an "office" in the Northeast News (there is no conflict of interest with a candidate for city council having an office in a newspaper building, is there?)
ReplyDeleteI love me some Scott Wagner. Mmmmm......
City Hall Corruption at it's best.
ReplyDelete3 week old Christmas hams.
ReplyDeleteTony's says they dont taste bad as long as they are honey-glazed.
I wish Tony would honey-glaze my ham.
ReplyDeleteJJ, can you introduce us?

ReplyDeleteYou mean they're not just 'regular folks'?
Good one, Byron!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the big time supporter Karen Pletz.... she backed the failed "Schools First" dodge. Too bad the FEDS grabbed her bank account before she could write a check to squitiro.
