  1. This is how you campaign go to the people. Tony you are right the other candidates feel like they can sit down and do nothing. If you don' go to current elected officials it is a fact they won't come. To you!

  2. Endorsements Do Not Win campaigns, people that vote win campaigns.

  3. And. sadly, that's because the system that's developed over the years doesn't NEED the voters. It's just a run-up to the insider game that's practiced at 12th and Oak, that has nothing to do with KCMO residents either.
Beg a few insiders for money; get (usually pay for) endorsements from the regular suspects;pay the handful of "consultants" to trick and scare the voters; hope for, and usually get, a low turnout, because regular folks are so turn off by the system; win and pay off the folks who got you there!
The residents and voters of KCMO can change this, but not by whining or wishing, but by GETTING IN THE GAME.
It's great that young people with actual ideas and a real interest in serving the public are offering themselves as candidates.
The rest is up to the voters.

  4. 6:55 is dead on the money.

I am a pretty pessimistic guy (Not as bad as Tony, I hope.) and yesterday at Nieces (sp?) I kinda got all warm and fuzzy seeing those younger people making an effort to kill the status quo.

I enjoyed listening to them speak, teh little I heard and was impressed with how sincere and young they were.

I ain't shittin ya, I think they really are honest and will try to kill off the Port Authority, Citidal, Jim Rowland Freedom Inc type plitics that have turned this city into an episode of "Boardwalk Empire".

Pendegrast (Not Teddy) is sitting on the shoulders of most of the schmucks we have running the city now imo.

If they do win, I hope to god they don't get intimidated by the vermin that seem to haunt the halls of this once great city and find new ways to bring positive and lasting change to a crippled city rotting from the inside out.

This will never happen, but I really wish the city council would vote the mayor more power and change our way of govt.

As bad as Mrs. Squitero is, if the mayor, even a bad mayor had more power (Chicago) to effect change and laws, we would be a heck of a lot better off.

Especially this city, which de facto includes OP whether any one will admit it or not.

    That state line kills us.

I knwo OP folks will say otherwise, bu if your neighbors house looks like a shithole from Port au Prince after a hurricane, you don't look so hot either.

No diss, jmo. 6:55 nails it.

  5. I agree with the top three. The under dogs can win this election,if we get the voters involved. I CAN NOT do 4 more years. Current Council has 2 go.
    Vote for change.

  6. Brandon Ellington will win 3rd district at large, he is connecting to folks all across the city. I am just a white man trapped inside a white body buddy but I question how the so called black leaders have all ignored Ellington spoken to Ellington several times and he is very serious, determine, great listener, extremely intelligent but what I like able him the most is his passion to get the message to his community that they have to take responsibility for themselves. I know Brandon Ellington is great for the 3rd.and all of Kansas city.

  7. For 7:38am anon
I agree with everyothing you've said about Mr. Ellington and certainly hope that he and others like him win in this election and bring a whole new concept of leadership emphasizing personal and official responsiblity and accountability to the east side.
The reason individuals like Mr. Ellington, Airick West, and others aren't supported by the current "black establishment" is because they represent a terrible threat to business as usual, which is to say making a living by threats and extortion even as they do absolutely nothing to work to improve their own community. The KCMSD has reduced its list of "contractors" from 7000 to only 1000. That means there are at least 6000 grifters looking for new gigs at being paid for doing nothing. These people have been "important" for years, because they say they are. Time to pull away the curtain and expose what phonies this gang really is.
It's up to the black community to finally look out for their own interests and that of their families.

  8. Tracy is looking old.

  9. Where would these candidates be without Tony? Nowhere, because these gatherings are the same thing all candidates are doing and is blown out of proportion compared the progress of credible candidates who will actually win.

Will the real THOMAS stand up please. Thomas my ass LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ok, this Tracy stuff is stupid.

For the record, she is articulate and well spoken with interesting ideas.

The pic above is bad, she is a very attractive young lady and she is not even close to fat.

You guys keep attacking her looks, which by the way, mean nothing (Don't get me wrong, the pink hair is a signature now, and whe should keep it.), means you are afraid of her.

    You should be.

All those folks who showed up yesterday were so impressive to me.

They REEKED I mean REEKED of enthusiasm, honesty and integrity. You could just see how hard they wanted to help make things better.

    It was great, really.

lets send Tracy Chips and all these guys to Washington!

  23. 12/30/10 8:56 AM why do you want Thomas to stand up and what did he say to make you so angry? He has a right just as yourself to voice your opinion. Who do you support besides yourself?

I was there also and I enjoyed m one on one with Brandon Ellington 3rd District At Large.

  25. Out of the 5 candidates Brandon Ellington is the best hands down,he's a people person plus he is smart 2nd Ed Pace very likable a lot like Ellington. Diana Kennedy is likable kinda of strange hope she wins.
Tracy Ward nice but up to something.or may have handlers.
Mahlon Davis needs to look more polished, not goinG to beat Cindy.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Have they been out in the Northland? If they actually believed what they were saying then they'd be up there. Maybe it's too much a part of the establishment. If they're the 'people candidates' then you'd think they'd want to represent the people of the Northland too as at-large candidates, especially since it could single-handedly loss them the election.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 12/30/10 9:46 AM

I hear they will bein the Northland Soon!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. 12/30/10 9:33 AM

    ReplyDelete
  29. 12/30/10 9:54 AM-Seriously his mother is suppose to campaign for him. To bad you don't have a mother that can or will campaign for you!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Tupac, Pink, Kayne and Snoop Dogg, yea change we can believe in! Not. And plus All these folks lined up against the E-tax will go down in a blaze when the E-tax gets renewed. I say lets have a look at their donors if one person from KS is funding these folks that should become a campaign issue. Either way I'm not voting for Tupac and Pink. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 12/30/10 9:33 AM-why don't you tell his mother to step aside? I don't think you have the balls to do that! SEROUSLY!!!!!
