CITY COUNCIL LADY DEB HERMANN GETS CHAMBER ENDORSEMENT AND BIZPAC SUPPORT IN KANSAS CITY MAYORAL RACE!!!
The presser was sent out last night and I read the note last night on 20lbs of Headlines and then got a couple of phone calls gloating.
Without question . . .
THE KANSAS CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ENDORSEMENT FOR DEB HERMANN IS A BIG (MONEY) DEAL AND AFFIRMS HER STATUS AS KANSAS CITY'S MAYORAL FRONT RUNNER!!!
There's only one reason this is a big deal and that's because this means money to Hermann and not an expenditure for her campaign . . .
A few people question TKC ranking Hermann as the front runner . . . As always, it's an objective determination based on SCIENTIFIC market research data and my keen political insights.
I haven't endorsed anybody for Mayor yet and not only do I think Deb doesn't have a big city Mayor personality or public image but I also don't like the way she helped to orchestrate a "palace coup" and install her homie as a City Manager . . Not that I liked the outgoing d-bag either. Anyhoo, Deb is a nice lady and honestly I'd probably support Idi Amin over Mayor Funky.
To wit . . .
Here's the Announcement of A Great X-mas Victory by Deb Hermann
Northland City Council member and candidate for mayor, Deb Hermann, has won the support of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce's political action committee, BizPAC.
The decision to support Councilwoman Hermann was made following a series of screening interviews held with each of the mayoral candidates.
KC BizPAC spokesman David Frantze said: “The decision to support Councilwoman Hermann was made based on her understanding of the complexities of the fiscal challenges facing the City. Her work on the City’s budget as well as the transparency with which she’s addressed the City’s business were two of the key factors behind our decision.

Just say no to incumbent City Council members who created this mess.
ReplyDeleteOf course Deb got that endorsement. Deb is all about cutting already weak City services in order to protect the comfortable.
ReplyDeleteDeb is the meanist God damn woman in this City.
I think she cheers for the head of the orphanage in Oliver.
It would be great if the Chamber actually got off their butts and tried to do something for the city, instead of just writing checks and then driving home to Johnson County.
ReplyDeleteTheir nuts tightened on Burke due to the Port Authority and they don't like Rowland.
ReplyDeleteOK folks. My head is beginning to spin and I haven't even touched the eggnog yet! It's hard to keep track of all these acronym groups' candidate selections. Someone please develop a spreadsheet or something to help us vote intelligently. Otherwise, I'll just have to do what I always do in the voting booth, take a SWAG.
ReplyDeleteVote Mean!
ReplyDeleteVote Cheap!
Vote Hermann!
Look at Hermann's record. Over and over she protects basic services for the weakest neighborhoods as much as possible and does not "protect the comfortable". Deb lives in a neighborhood that relies on basic services. She is the only candidate that can say that. She will make an excellent mayor. I'm glad she got this endorsement if it will help make her campaigning more successful.
ReplyDeleteIn general - I've always preferred the councilmembers who came to office from the neighborhoods rather than the usual lawyers and others looking for higher office. And delusional former auditors seeking reelection.
ReplyDeleteThose that come out of neighborhood activism know the problems from the ground up. Or maybe I should say, below-ground up - considering the vast network of sewer and water pipes.
Hermann won't make a good Mayor. "Why?", you may ask. Because you can't trust short people. "Why?", you ask again. Because their brains are too close to their assholes!
ReplyDelete7:47 - So, by your theory, Funkhouser is the best mayor we've ever had?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so.
Won't vote for Deb she sat on the very city counsel that has caused the whole mess.
ReplyDelete7:49, there's a scientific explanation......the theory doesn't apply to anyone from Virginia! FYI, all the Dunn boys are short. Mike Burke is short and he went to school in Virginia! Nuff said! QED.
ReplyDelete7:21: You may have convinced me to vote for Deb. That and the fact that she actually did something about a problem that was clearly a city (Water Dept.) responsibility that no one else would touch for 8months.
ReplyDeleteAnd 7:49: Good one!
To whoever keeps saying the current council "caused the whole mess"--What are you talking about?? The international economic crisis? That's what causes the city budget to need such major cuts. DH is the one who did it with as little damage to neighborhoods as possible. Sorry if people think that makes her mean. I used to think the leadership in my home was mean when I couldn't eat candy for dinner--but then I grew up.
ReplyDeleteWTF ????
ReplyDeleteThe Irish banking mess, and the Euro affect the city services and lawsuits in Kansas City ???? !!!! LOL.
8:28: I think 8:19 was thinking more along the lines of the real estate crash (which left property values lower and many homes empty, foreclosed, unkempt, and burdens on the city as well as the worst unemployment in 70-some years which also lower the city's income and increases the demand on services. Funky's lawsuits sure didn't help the situation, either.
ReplyDeleteWe can certainly see her opponents have been up early typing their slime in the comments section. Nice try.
ReplyDeleteHer opponents don't want to ruin Kansas City with anymore disastrous policies from City Hall and the City council.
ReplyDelete8:34 did you bother to read what you wrote?
ReplyDelete"The international economic crisis? That's what causes the city budget to need such major cuts."
if rita and the puppet master is backing deb she dont stand a chance of winning with them behind her.
ReplyDeleteif rita and the puppet master is backing deb she dont stand a chance of winning with them behind her.
ReplyDeleteYep, it means all of $3,000 for her campaign. Yeehaw. Business people who support her have given (and would give) anyway; its not going to change the mind of any money person who was against her.
ReplyDelete10:27, you are absolutely wrong. The biz PAC folks will write checks and get their friends to write checks. It's a big deal.
ReplyDeleteThe business folks are actually all over the place in the mayor's race. For example, the current Chairman of the Chamber is a huge supporter of Rowland, but the "Biz PAC" endorses Hermann. Where's Burke in all this? He has his business supporters, too. Biz PAC endorsement really doesn't mean as much as one would think, other than a $3,000 contribution.
ReplyDelete10:27: Actually guys this will mean a lot of money for Deb. I would guess that at least $50K has been standing on the sidelines waiting for this decision.
ReplyDeleteAnd, the Downtown Council will mean another $50K for someone.
I like Deb, I don't know much about BizPAC, but I think she would make a good mayor so I'm going to vote for her. She comes to meetings and she's very smart.
ReplyDeleteI hope this chick is tough and doesn't end up just another malleable tool to special interests if she becomes mayor.
ReplyDeleteLet's see it takes about a year to fix a hole in the street or water line leak and about a year for a codes inspector to respond to a complaint, etc.
ReplyDeleteMaybe elementary management classes should be required of all Kansas City honchos.
12:37 has got it right. It takes more time for the city to do its real job than it takes developers to get TIF. Deb seems to know what the city's real job is.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Ed Wolf sniffing around her? Does he expect another job with an outrageous salary to do nothing?
ReplyDeleteDear Chamber,
ReplyDeleteYou made a mistake. Perhaps some of your staff think Hermann is a great candidate. One cannot overlook the pure fact that Hermann was happily in cahoots with Mayor Funkhouser for over 2 1/2 years. She and her stalwart supporter, Bill Skaggs, carried Funkhouser's water time and again. When Hermann finally figured out just how weak Funkhouser is, she moved away from him and started her plans to take his office.
Vast parts of the Northland will not vote for Hermann and her status as being neighborhood based does not extend very far in most of Kansas City.
Dear Chamber members, rethink this endorsement. It is not too late. Kansas City has much riding on this election. Hermann is not the face of our city.
Good God Almighty!!! Enough with beating yourselves up GKCCC!! The Jim Heeter for Mayor thing was ages ago!!! You do not need to pick a scuff-along woman to prove that you are egalitarian!!
ReplyDeleteShe is not up to par. And yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus for Ed Wolff.
I'm Not voting for Deb Herman.
ReplyDeleteI wish a mayor or council candidate would answer this. Why is it for the past several fiscal years on May 1st the city has laid off hundreds of city employees with 10, 15, even 20 years of experience, yet come September through March they hire hundreds of new people from the outside? They should not hire one person from the outside as long as they continue with layoffs.

ReplyDeleteMe nither Sly James has my vote!!!!
2:10. Companies do it all the time...get rid of the expensive, overpaid, over-tenured dead wood and replace them as soon as possible with cheaper help who can do the same jobs, but with much better attitude and not at the top of the salary scale.
ReplyDeleteI've always felt people in the same job longer than 6-10 years get stale. Don't even bring brains to work. Have nothing additional to offer except doing things the same way they always have.
Can't even SPELL 'innovation'. Specially true for people in edjakayshun and gom'ment, and any legislative body.
Radioman's right America is a throw away society, even as Americans in your old age your family will more than likely put you in an retirement home.
ReplyDelete6:17: You've got it right. People need to make provisions for themselves, since no one else is going to do it for them.
ReplyDeleteThat means stop spending and start saving. Rates won't be where they are now forever, and you'll have your interest to keep you warm.
I am shocked. You would think a biz org. would expect some education and at the very least some work history. Odd.
