Best News Of This Gloomy And Deadly Year End Week: Water-Skiing Squirrel Headlines Kansas City Boat & Sportshow!!!
Do the math on recent days . . .
There's be a deadly gun fight in the middle of urban streets.
An innocent local college student killed and then stepped over for cash.
So much hype and propaganda over meaningless and most likely brief playoff appearance by The Chiefs.
For the most part, this has been one of the worst weeks of the year in Kansas City.
The only bright spot I can see: Twiggy, billed as the world’s only water-skiing squirrel, has been announced as a headliner at the Kansas City Boat & Sportshow Jan. 13-16 at Bartle Hall.
I wouldn't exactly call it light at the end of the tunnel but this bit of animal abuse always makes crowds laugh and brightens spirits which is exactly what Kansas City needs right now.
Always interesting to read Tony's news roundups. Two shootings, including a heart breaking one written by the Star about a promising young man coming to the US to escape violence in his OWN country only to be murdered, plus a gunfight, juxtaposed with Twiggy the world's only water-skiing squirrel.
ReplyDeleteAt first, I wanted to say about the gunfight blocks from Crown Center and CMH... the WHO of an East Side killing isn't as important as the WHY. Until I read the story of the engineering student working his way through UMKC at a Swope Parkway gas station.
Makes KC's east side as dangerous as Sri Lanka. Too bad the skiing squirrel isn't a community leader to help reduce crime like all the hand wringing reverends and local self-promoting crime fighters.
Just completely pathetic!
I agree with Radioman "Makes KC's east side as dangerous as Sri Lanka."
ReplyDeleteKansas City is a war zone. Our City Leadership has failed us.
City Hall, the Mayors Office, The Board of Police Commissioners have failed the citizens of Kansas City.
Its the culture.
ReplyDeleteThe sub culture of entitlement and complaint.
Period.
Nope, it's the widespread availability of guns. Stop the guns, stop the crime.
ReplyDeleteAh, the usual blogger blame game. Nail city hall for the disrespect of citizens for each other.
ReplyDeleteToo quick to blame government officials, IMHO. People are responsible for their own cultures and their own morality. Local government's job is to provide services, not civilize its citizens.
People are supposed to do that on their own. To suggest it's the KC mayor's/PD's failure is to suggest that it's the Overland Park mayor/PD's credit for for having a hugely better murder rate.
It's just not a government problem. People who chose to live in the inner city have raised their children badly... and now their children are to be feared and their community unfit to live in.
Is it the money, the unemployment? The schools? If so, we can expect that all areas where poor people predominate are similarly dangerous, all over the world. Or are their mayors and police departments better leaders?
Actually, KCMO is MORE dangerous than Sri Lanka, or many other Third World countries, for that matter.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have to hand it to Al Brooks and Alonzo; they certainly recognized a growth industry when they decided to make a living, not by trying to prevent vioence, but by providing "services" to grieving families after-the-fact.
What a team!
With the 50% high school drop out rate, it is only going to get worse.
ReplyDeleteOne thing for certain Kansas City is a dangerous place.
ReplyDeleteFunny how Los Angles turned their Homicide rate around but Kansas City can't.

I love rodents.
ReplyDeletetypical nigger behavior.
ReplyDeleteTKC should be changed to THKC.
ReplyDeleteTony Hates Kansas City.

People tell me when they were growing up in the country years ago, kids used to go to school with guns and hunt on the way home. Yet they didn't go around shooting each other.
No, it's not the guns. It's the low moral character of some people.
I dropped out of high school, and I spend my days standing on the street corner holding up my pants.
ReplyDeleteToday's kids wanna be just like me.
Other towns have to suffer a cultural blight because they are only treated to award winning live theater, world class symphonies and opera, and renowned art museums. I'm so proud to be a Kansas Citian! We have Twiggy, the world's only water skiing squirrel! Take that L.A, Chicago and New York!
ReplyDeleteTwiggy - write in candidate for KC Mayor!
ReplyDeleteI hate niggers!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love squirrels!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that isn't a picture of the Funk in his last vacation?
