TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! JIM ROWLAND ATTACKS CO-MAYOR FUNKY AND COUNCIL LADY DEB HERMANN!!!

Interesting e-mail copy sent my way that's catching the interest of quite a few of you.

To reasons this is important . . .

Mayoral Candidate Jim Rowland takes Mayor Funky to task for so many failures during the last four years.

More importantly, Rowland is going after Finance & Audit Chairwoman Deb Hermann. It's a move that might capitalize on anti-incumbent sentiment and attacks the credentials of another strong Mayoral Contender.

Kind of like a Mayoral two for one.

Check it:

News from Rowland for Mayor

Dear Tony,

The mayor in his latest newsletter claims the fruits of his efforts to be Smart with Your Money.

What he doesn't share with you is that he and his Finance chairwoman in the last budget, during the worst economic downturn since the great depression, balanced the budget on the backs of homeowners and small businesses.

They raised our property taxes by $4 million without a vote of the people. Other governments, like Jackson County, did not increase property tax levies to make up for falling home values.

They raised sewer rates 15%, water rates 10% and then increased the administrative fees in order to bill homeowners once per month.

They doubled our trash fees.

They increased inspections for small businesses to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

And now we find out they're diverting money from the ATA bus tax, breaking the faith of the voters.

This doesn't sound like Smart with Your Money; it sounds like they're spending all of your money.

It is time for a change. We've had four years of distraction, dysfunction, taxing and spending!

I have a proven, public record of collaboration, cooperation and leadership with real world business experience. I am asking for your support and your vote.

Sincerely,

Jim

  1. Deb lost my vote when it was uncovered that she pals around with those who profit from Puppy Mills. It disgusts me she would be working with those who are trying to overturn an election in defense of Puppy Mills.

  2. Maybe Rowland has what it takes. But he needs to be busier. This might be a good start.

  3. He definitely has given voters something to think about...

  4. I'd be careful with that Deb Hermann. I can't be sure, but she lloks like one of the bouncers from The Cheatea Inn.

  5. The thing about Rowland is that he seems all good and ok on the outside. But when it comes down to business and the doors shut, he turns into someone completely different.
I have been there with you Jim, I have seen you at your worst. I have seen you lose it. I remember when you were a councilman and how ineffective and angry you were then.
I cant imagine you wielding the power of the mayors office.

God help us if you win.

Also I obtain a lot in your theme really thank your very much i will come every day

  7. Rowland was Finance Chair when he bled the Water Dept and now we are paying for it in increased water & sewer rates. Mismanagement when Rowland was Finance Chair is why we are paying higher water rates now!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Why would Deb cozy up with the puppy mill profiteers?

    That is just sick.

    ReplyDelete
  9. We all already know what these other people have and haven't done over the years.
What policies and priorities does Mr. Rowland bring to his campaign?
You can't beat something with nothing!

  10. I wonder how Jim Rice is going to deal with this problem. Co-incumbents who have been there for 4 years. Talk about temper ?? How about the famous 58 second Finance Meeting when she wanted to make Cauthen look bad ? It was about a year ago this week that Deb arranged the lynching of Cauthen. Not a surprise she doesn't like blacks. Deb was a GOP central committee woman and campaigned in 1992 against both Bill Clinton and Mel Carnahan. This is still a Democratic city.

  11. OH MY GOD....
Is he serious, can he bend the truth any further to his advantage. I'd put the budgets and expenditures of the current council up against his terms anyday. He and Kay are the ones who put us in such a bad situation.
How much is Tony making to print this garbage? Jim realizes he can't get elected on his own merits so he wants to tear down everyone else.

Actually, Steve G probably wrote for him to sign!

  12. Wow, we can see tonight that a lot of people are really scared of Deb, Go Deb!!!

  14. Mr. Rowland, they balanced the budget on the backs of city employees, please do not forget that.

They did NOT raise property taxes.

The sewer increases were voted on by the public. Water is an enterprise fund and was not part of the budget shortfall.

They doubled the fee for EXTRA trash bags. Good God, if you cannot recycle or fit your shit into two bags, something is wrong.

The increase in inspection fees were by a vote of the public.

Buses damage our streets. The vote for the 3/8 ata tax included city fees which they are currently operating in. I'd rather see this funding improving streets for EVERYONE rather than a few bus riders.

You really have no F'ing clue, do you?

  15. It is a fact that Deb was a GOP Committeewoman and did campaign against Bill Clinton. Shame on her! She also doesn't have a college degree. No wonder we are in a catastrophy at the city. She's been running our finances!!!!

  16. One Eastside vote11/22/10, 7:56 PM

What I don't like about Hermann is that she complained about the City's Finances when Wayne Cauthen was in charged but then couldn't find any problems after she got rid of him.

That's quite a contradiction Deb and deserves to be answered.

  17. If distortions were nickels, Jim's letters and these responses would constitute a small fortune.

Sadly, if you throw enough ^$#$$%& out there, some of it will stick.

  18. I'm so glad I don't live in the4 city and have to deal with piddly 2 allowed trash bags.

Guess my big roll-around trash container provided by my provate trash company wouldn't work in the ghetto.

What do ya bet the reason why the city does it at no charge is they know half its citizens wouldn't hire a private trash company... and would just dump it on the nearest school playground or park!

But oh. People are whining about extra bag charges! What a bunch of losers live in KCMO! Probably why people are moving out and have for years!

  19. I'm new to Tony. Great stuff here and love the open debate. That, in itself, is a good sign for our city.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Gee "Kevin" leave it to you to have a lot of comments about trash!

Its the "Kevin obsession" guy! They have pills for what is wrong with you. Who the hell is Kevin & why do you hate him?

  22. Deb has a monster temper too and she's vindictive as hell.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Deb is done

  24. 9:16, spoken from a true supporter of Mike Burke. He's scared to death of Hermann.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't even know Burke but I hope Hermann loses her ass! She is hateful, spiteful, and vindictive!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Holy Crap! Seriously? Deb hates puppies?! You have to be kidding. She probably doesn't care for ineffective, poorly-written legislation. I talked to my own vet about it; you should ask yours too. Overall they don't favor a law that penalizes responsible breeders without any real teeth to go after the bad guys. I doubt Deb is a puppy-hater.

  27. Anyone who watches Deb on Channel 2 or in real life sees what a thoughtful reasonable woman she is. That's why I will be voting for her. As for the beauty pageant remarks, that isn't how I'm choosing this time, but if I were, I would go for Deb over any of the others.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Burke and Rowland are so scared it is funny to see. Attacking Deb on personal looks is childish and low. These Two have no qualities of their own to tout, so they slam the only candidate who can beat Funkhouser. Deb helped fire Cauthen because he was a crook and people who scream racist are racists themselves.

    Hi Meghan Tallman.

  30. Nice attempt trying to link Rowland and Kay Barnes. Unfortunately, that's dead wrong. Jim got taken out of several committees when he went against Kay's wishes. Unlike Deb, Jim stood his ground and paid the price for it. Deb, on the other hand, went along with everything Kay Barnes wanted. Not once did she vote no on any of the things that she now so vehemently speaks out against.
Deb is a sycophant. She went along with Kay and when Funkhouser came on, she went along with him. The last 4 years have been the worst in terms of professionalism at the City Council level. The behavior of the city council reflects Deb's personality and her way of doing things.
We don't need funkhouser and we don't need deb.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Deb is a bust and her D.C. staff should focus on fixing that city.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Deb Hermann lives in Gracemore in the Northland. She ran the neighborhood into the ground. Take a drive through the place and see what a great job she has done.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Rowland is totally corrupt. He has shaken down every contractor at the Truman Sports Complex for campaign contributions. Who knows how much this has cost Jackson County taxpayers. Time for the new Missouri State Auditor to audit the Sports Authority and Jim Rowland.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hey 1:24!! Do some research before opening your big trap. The Sports Authority is audited by an independent firm every year. The audits are on their webpage.
Bring something real to the discussion.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would never vote for Deb Herman

    ReplyDelete
  36. Funkhouser and Hermann, two peas in a pod of FAIL.

    ReplyDelete
  37. We all know whats wrong with the current administration. Negativety is a sign of desperation. How about a canidate tell what they will do to fix the situation going forward that has some class.

    ReplyDelete
  38. True, Rowland was taken off committees in his first term but she whipped him into shape and cut a deal for his support in his second.

Deb is no leader. I would give her a C for chosing people to parrot since Ken baccus and the Housing mess wasn't her smartest move. Schulte is smart and capable as a Budget authority. An A for him and F for Baccus

  39. Deb does not "run" Gracemor.
