Check out a glimpse of the latest evite for a Jim Rowland Fundraiser in his race to become Kansas City's Mayor.
The tiny image was sent from a rather AWESOME TKC TIPSTER who didn't trust me enough to send the big version that would have revealed a bunch of names of the folks currently supporting the 4th District Mayoral Contender.
Nevertheless, there have been more than a few questions about Rowland's candidacy and I think it's noteworthy that he's back on the campaign trail after taking the Summer off. Of all the Mayoral Candidates, Rowland strikes me as the laziest . . . Which isn't too horrible considering that political office is the only occupation where the effectiveness of begging people for money is a determining factor in success.
So, it's not just Rowland's aloof campaign that has piqued my interest. I'm also a bit concerned by his Mayoral Slogan.
Renew The Spirit.
Really?!?!
It sort of sounds like a religious revival or a slogan from one of Oprah's lost episodes.
Still, Rowland supporters continue to have faith in the guy for two reasons:
There's a contention that Rowland will get "The Catholic Vote" which, very much like our Lord and Savior, I've never seen materialize.
There's also the fact that he's a big, tall, white guy that works in his favor. I've met with Rowland and he is, in fact, big and tall and white but so much of Mayor Funky's propaganda was centered around his height and ultimately his Administration has been an unmitigated failure. For the record, I've always believed Kansas City's greatest Mayor of the modern era was Richard Berkley who is a short guy who had better ideas about local government than most politicos currently holding office.
Brief aside: Will anybody hassle Rowland for using Irish Green the same way the did Council Dude Terry Riley?
But I digress . . .
Rowland and his supporters are serious Mayoral Contenders but their candidacy not only require faith that he can beat Mayor Funky but also get past some equally impressive candidates.
Developing . . .
I still like Sly.
ReplyDeletefunk wins.
ReplyDeleteWhy is he getting the Catholic vote more than Rockhurst's Mike Burke?
ReplyDeleteOMG, who to vote for? who to vote for? I am so confused.
ReplyDeleteSly is catholic and the most reasonable choice.
ReplyDeleteBig A+ for Roland on the stadium prioject that he helped oversee without scandal. He will gets lots of love for that.
ReplyDeleteTony For Mayor!
ReplyDeletehis tagline?
"Gully Hell Hole City Deserves a Fat Lazy Mexican."
Bad at the council even worse as Mayor!
ReplyDelete10:05 has the slogan.
ReplyDeleteRowland is a low-key type, very little hype, but after Funk, I don't mind it.
ReplyDeleteRowland wins.
ReplyDeleteAt least he finished high school.
ReplyDeleteDoes he send unsolicited bulk e-mail to support his campaign?
ReplyDeleteJim Rowland + Pat Gray = Criminal Investigation
ReplyDeleteThe guy is a flake. I saw a guy tell him to kick ass or kiss butt and he got a sheepish look on his face like he remembered what real pain was.
ReplyDeleteAll these tadpoles will scatter when Big Al Riederer announces his candidacy.
ReplyDeleteBeing Catholic, I can tell you that Jim Rowland CANNOT "count on the catholic vote".
ReplyDeleteI know Rowland. A lot of people know Rowland. The man is simply a more polished version of Mark Funkhouser. He cannot or will not listen to anyone other than himself. He is actually more rudely dismissive than Funkhouser. He will NOT get the vote of Catholics who actually know him.
But he's tall!
ReplyDeleteHeard he was banned from a baseball league. One of the crazy parent coaches.
Would that be the spirit of pendergast?
ReplyDeleteCheck out Rowland's supporters, most have contracts with the Jackson County Sports Authority...talk about a scandal!
ReplyDeleteWhat say you the black community? LOL
