Seriously?!?! Of all the things currently going on in this world that could spur a bit of community activism -- A few locals pick Plaza real estate deals as an example of injustice and earn a write-up in the so-called "paper of record" for their Art Fair protest.

There are enough people around to pursue their interests. Not everyone wants to live in a barrio and be poor.
ReplyDeleteFact is, countries are built from the ground up. People move out of ghettos, whether golden or working class with hard work. It's a slow process.
I applaud you for being concerned about the world's poor--we need people to do that too--, but if they have no vision, they will remain poor.
It serves no purpose to shame people to support YOUR interests. Instead of whining, quit dickin around with petty state rep politics and turn this blog into an inspiring place to provide leadership.
You're wasting your gift and your influence with a lot of petty stuff.
Maybe you should change your tactics and keep the MAIN thing on the MAIN THING.
I'd suggest to you that most people don't suffer. They wallow which is why they never lift themselves up. Blaming people who DO want to see better things (yes like the Plaza and so many others) simply gives the whiners an excuse to whine.
Quit making excuses and blaming the builders for building things, and teach the ignorant HOW to be builders.
On a related note, silly white people had lunch.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, RM!
ReplyDeleteThere's a whole industry, let's call it the victimization industrial complex, in which a handful of people have made very good livings convincing others that they're victims and don't have a chance at a decent life unless they follow those self-appointed "leaders".
A good example is the recent mini-flap about redistricitng, where the same old usual suspects tried to convince the black community that they couldn't compete politically unless they had their own protected district.
It seems an odd point of view in the time of President Obama, but when you're a hammer, the whole world's a nail.
Change is always coming at you. Lead, follow, or be swept away.
And for God's sake, quite whining!!
And just how is sitting in your mom's basement doing ANYTHING to help anyone?
ReplyDeleteYou may think this cause is silly, but at least these folks actually got up off their butts, out of their houses, and tried to do something!
Agree with Radioman: Criticizing every little piddly thing gets old after a while.
It must suck to have been born you.
ReplyDeleteHow come crime is so much less in predominately white neighborhoods?
ReplyDeleteCoz dey bruddas destroy everything they touch.
ReplyDeleteExcept KU basketball players, they get an exemption.
Crime is less in white neighborhoods because the people who live in those neighborhoods work together and try to stop unacceptable behavior early on instead of whining about how they're victims and are owed safety by somebody else.
ReplyDeleteAnd as the urban core empties out and there's less opportunity for crime and violence there because most everyone has left, the crime won't just stop.
It's already spreading throughout the city. Unfortunately, the rolling gun battle at 12th and Grand won't be the last.
Tony, you ARE wasting your writing talent whining about the 'disadvantaged' not getting taken care of, for example, by not having their own city council district.
ReplyDeleteUse your bully pulpit to encourage these people to get off their asses and do things to make their lives better.
It starts with attitude!!
You could be like Bill Cosby who inspires rather than whines.
Silly Mexican Americans who live in mommy's basement.
ReplyDeleteAll this commin from a wanna be news reporter...." live from mommy's basement heeere's Tony!!"
ReplyDeleteViva TKC!
ReplyDeleteAnd the Intelligent Post of the Year Award goes to RadioMan! Thanks RM - couldn’t have said it better myself. Tony - each day you seem to find a way to become more of a pathetic loser and more irrelevant! Hell even RM made you his bitch today!
