
Given that a lot of experts cite the current U.S. prison system as a "stunningly comprehensive and well-disguised system of racialized social control" I'm not at all surprised to see so many locals rally behind a local young person charged with murder.
Because the reporting is so kind and I don't notice any vitriolic comments directed against the young person in question, I'm going to assume something very obvious regarding this case and how it differs from so many other instances of young people in minority communities who are summarily sent up the river for much lesser infractions.
