Nothing is worse than old school "war stories" from newsies without jobs. Trust me on this one.
Whitlock is takes us through his entire career and is taking us back a decade.
The diatribe is hasn't earned one question so far . . . It's almost painful to hear the litany of gripes.
Jason Whitlock is is responsible for Aol.com sports . . . I have some CDs I need to mail him.
More . . .
We're at 2007 now!!! Fox and Rupert Murdoch . . . Good people according to Whitlock.
More . . .
Whitlock slams Newpapers and "The Awards Culture" and sends a shout out to David Simon and The Wire. Again. Ugh.
"The Internet has changed journalism." "You can't pay people in plaques."
Whoever gave the okay to this diatribe needs to be shot. For the good of Democracy.
More . . .
Here we go . . . Hot-ass Star Editor Holly Lawton talk. Gripes about editorial decisions. People who REALLY care about this h
Maybe Whitlock slander:
"MIKE AND HOLLY WERE INVOLVED IN AN INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIP!!!"
"The flesh is weak"
Star nastiness exposed . . . Still wondering if anyone cares.
MORE . . .
"I've been working with handcuffs on me"
Sexy: "The person on the top has to have the highest ethics."
More . . .
Less than an hour into it the litany of gripes and complaints for Jason Whitlock is now getting incomprehensible, boring and a reflection mass media egotism at its best. I thought Whitlock was conjuring up Andy Kauffman with this phony press conference but he's now talking like Lenny Bruce on a bad night -- With Whitlock powered by his obsession with is own narrative and That Gates BBQ he allegedly had catered.
What I hoped was a joke is now a serious affront to the power of the telecommunications technology that brings this schlock to the masses. Kansas City, newspaper journalism and even Whitlock's career deserved better.
WHITLOCK CONTINUES . . .
"I have to be moved from this unethical and toxic environment at The Star's Sports Department."
MORE . . .
"I don't have any faith in Mike Fannin, not a good person in my opinion."
More . . .
About nice things Whitlock said (this time about his editor Mike Fannin): "I regret it, it was a lie."
More . . .
WHITLOCK MYSTERIOUSLY SENT TO COMMERCIAL AND OFF THE AIR TALKING ABOUT KANSAS CITY STAR EDITOR MIKE FANNIN "KISSING ON THE NECK" OF A MALE EMPLOYEE!!!
Weird looking at a dude killing his career on live TV.
Back on the air with Nick Wright . . . Whitlock opines about Journalism and Democracy again. Whitlock attempts to hold people accountable with bar stories.
Nice.
More . . .
An appeal to other Star newsies . . . "Don't participate in the coverup!"
More . . .
Now the Nick Wright questions begin . . .
On the importance of newspaper journalism and life . . . Jason Whitlock: "Democracy is almost, already, dead."
Inspiring.
Looking forward a "Special Guest" and caller questions. Realizing Two things . . .
Those Skin Cancer commercials on Metro Sports scare the shit out of me and make me glad I'm not white.
Also . . .
NICK WRIGHT TAKES HIS GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH THIS INTERVIEW!!!
He's asking tough questions, quick to rephrase and keeps Whitlock on task. Seriously impressive.
Rap music talk . . . Meh. Whitlock follows it like a social issue and not a fan of music . . . Other than his penchant for dance music.
Also . . . Jordan Carver:
Still waiting for the callers . . .
A nice shout out to Kansas City
WHITLOCK STARTS CRYING!!!
I'm done with this . . .

Jason Whitlock Slams K.C. Star Editor Mike Fannin, Gets Kicked Off The Air
BOTTOM LINE COMMUNICATIONS: WHITLOCK'S RANT TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL
He looks like he has lost weight.
ReplyDeletehate him.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! A big loss for the Star. Idiots.
ReplyDeleteMaybe.
ReplyDeleteI listened to about a half hour of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat he said is probably all true, and, because I'm kinda sorta involved in a similar business, I can relate.
I could probably spend an hour on radio telling you all about my career, the ups and downs, achievements and disappointments, etc.
But it is all very self-absorbed, isn't it?
He's a good writer. I almost always read him. But he isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, as he seems to think.
Now I read Mellinger in The Star, and he's good, too.
Wow. Bottom line is that most everyone has done him wrong his entire career. That's a darn shame.
ReplyDeleteJason: Most everyone could get on the radio and tell their life's story, and it would sound a lot like your story. Get over it, and -- please -- try to get along with people.
ReplyDeleteIf I hire you, Jason, how long before you're on the radio badmouthing me?
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with that!
ReplyDeleteTHE IMAGNE OF THE HINDENBURG ABLAZE AND FALLING FROM THE HEAVENS IS ALL I CAN PICTURE LISTENING TO THIS ON-AIR DISASTER.
ReplyDeleteThe Kansas City Star is going down like the Hindenberg. Whitlock is reading the Star the riot act. Spot on criticisms!
ReplyDeleteYou would think that Tony's Kansas City would be cheering him on.
Who would ever have heard of Jason Whitlock if he'd never worked for the Star? This is not only biting the hand that overfed him, it's chewing off the arm that went with it.
ReplyDeleteI hope he's not planning to get a good reference from his former employer.
3 years $2.1 M at a website! Get the lie detector out Nick!
ReplyDeleteI'm getting tired of this story, Tony. Got a Jordan Carver picture or something to wake me up?
ReplyDeleteJason has the perfect face and body for radio!
ReplyDeleteJason has zero people skills and seems to be going out of his way to burn bridges that he hasn't even walked on.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with the guy? It's always someone else that causes his problems and now he wants everyone to join in his little pity party and hold him tight and tell him everything would be o.k. if every other person on earth would just stop messin' with him.
He's one of the biggest crybabies this town has ever seen.
If only his mom would of breastfed him. Poor baby.
I love this line from Tony:
ReplyDelete"Star nastiness exposed . . . Still wondering if anyone cares."
That comment could be left on pretty much every single post over at KC confidential. And how many times do you post stuff about star nastiness? I guess it's only worthwhile if Tony or Hearne offer some lame conjecture, not if somebody who was really in the middle of it speaks out on air to an attentive, live-blogging audience. Gimme a break, dude.
You read Tony too much. Stop.
ReplyDeleteanyone who reads tony once or twice can see through the huge amounts of logical fallacies he uses in virtually every argument
ReplyDeletebut yeah, 5:15, you're right... if someone is capable of critical thinking, they shouldn't be here. retard.
HEIS CRYING NOW!!!! JESUS FUCK GET OFF THE AIR YOU FAT BASTARD! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO KK ON 810AM AND HIS DAILY 4-HOUR DICK-SUCKING MARATHON. CHRIST!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous 5:46 PM
ReplyDeleteYou can change the channel.
Sounds like you got some problems and should worry about yourself, not Whitlock.
THANKS TONY.
ReplyDeleteJason is a perfect example of what is wrong with journalism and society today. Zero respect to anyone other than himself.
ReplyDeleteJason whocares
ReplyDeleteThe KC Star is dead.
ReplyDeleteThe newspaper is only good for packing material to leave Kansas City
Runaway ego. Too bad. Lots more business are going to do the incredible shrinking....
ReplyDeleteHe definitely doesn't have the face for TV so I'm not sure what alternatives he'll have. He is a good writer but who's going to want to hire him only to badmouthed when he gets pissed and leaves... like one poster said.
Lemme see - newspaper journalism is dead because yo helped kill it you fat egotistical, pompus bastard. Its not about you - its abouit the freakin story and the people in it. There's no "I" in team - a concept you apparently fail to grasp.
ReplyDeleteFat fuck - get lost.
As an Advertising firm ex I would never hire someone who has publicly bad mouthed his former employer.... very unprofessional. No one will hire him.
ReplyDeleteA selfless act of courage.... a man who loves The Star and what it should be for the community.... and now, sad, seeing it turn into a "me first, me only" shell for people protecting their lifestyle and paychecks... I wish Jason had worked in the higher regions of our local school districts, real estate companies, and other industries...where the administrators and bosses have been firing working employees in order to save themselves and their ingrown, nepotistic, and who has been sleeping with who, leadership groups.
ReplyDeleteAll you people who are squealing against Jason need to look in the mirror and ask, "who am I protecting?"
I hope that this is the start of a truth parade exposing what is really happening behind the scenes of our leadership institutions...
I've been trying to figure out how to write about this event, but can't. Just too much. Jason Whitlock extolling the virtues of objectivity, of not making the story about you. Jason Whitlock, the brand. I'm trying to imagine Mike Royko, the brand. I guess I'm waiting now to see how the Star handles it. Good newspapers do report on events that involve them, even if a bit uncomfortable. -- Henry Wiggen
ReplyDeleteThis just proves that his flashes of success were simply lightening in a bottle. He is a glorified limited talent B-level college newspaper writer. He also proved that he is classless and arrogant. Take your fat ass to Rupert's place.
ReplyDeleteJason has spotted a trend.... that is, we have had HORRIBLE leadership during our current economic depression...highlighted by leadership protecting and promoting there own selfish interests...I hope this is the start of the wave that flushes these greed mongers from our system... I am sad for the people whose lives have been destroyed by these arrogant bastards...
ReplyDeleteCrying like that? Oh my god. It wasn't even convincing on the standard of ghetto drama. Did he take some acting classes or what? Because if he did, IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY.
ReplyDeleteThere are homosexuals and elitests working at The Star? Really? I would have never guessed.
