Kansas City's Political Columnist is simply turning the Editorial page of the Kansas City Star into a campaign mailer.
He's defense of his pal Mr. Peanut and the guy's unprecedented cash contributions to Crystal Williams once again lacks any solid reasoning or facts.
AND LET'S NEVER FORGET THIS IS THE SAME TEAM THAT BROUGHT KANSAS CITY THE FAILED TENURE OF CO-MAYORS FUNKY AND SQUITIRO!!!
Even worse . . . In this campaign it's simply too easy to challenge Yael on his misguided assertions. Recently, he writes:
"Williams could actually be constructive in talks with County Executive Mike Sanders and other legislators in moving good programs forward."
Not likely with her attack ads that are going after Jackson County as a whole and are reportedly pissing off Mike Sanders. The political newbie only stands to forge a relationship with Sanders IF she she does what he says and keeps her mouth shut. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Jackson County Legislature ALREADY has a good working relationship with Sanders.
"Williams, with her background in health and children’s issues, could be a force for more positive treatment of people by county officials."
Really? That's it? That's the best thing he could come up for this lady?
Williams gets a lot of accolades for her work and that's great but she wasn't an "advocate" she was getting paid for her time in Jeff City.
CRYSTAL WILLIAMS WAS A HEALTHCARE LOBBYIST TAKING DOWN $5500 A MONTH UNTIL MAY OF THIS YEAR!!!
She isn't some "up with the people" grass roots organizer on the streets and arguing for better Healthcare. The lady was doing a high priced job and schmoozing with politicos in Jeff City. Other than the high price tag for her work, there's nothing inherently wrong with that . . . But Florence Nightingale, she ain't.
Meanwhile, Rizzo helped to keep down property taxes, has nearly all Union AND Community endorsements AND was part of the effort for hard fought County Charter Review.
Abouhalkah is using big money and big media to push an elite lobbyist on the voting public and he's supporting his arguments with nothing more than ad hominem attacks and Mr. Peanut's money. In this race, if this is the best Abouhalkah has got, then he's got nothing.

ReplyDeleteAnd maybe for someone who works out of his mom's basement, $5500/month is a big deal, but in the serious lobbying business, it's chump change.
Neither Yael or Tony have much positive to say about either of the candidates, but that's been what this campaign has been about from the beginning.
How many children could have got medical treatment with that money. She is an advocate but for herself.

ReplyDeleteActually, I'm not big on unions; why do you like Rizzo, Tony? Me, I think he's probably been around too long. Lets impose some term limits. See what happens. I'd urge Jxco people to give Mr Rizzo a rest. Besides, I think he smells tainted.
See what someone else can do with the job for awhile. Sorry Tony, I think Yael makes more sense than you do on this race. I'm still kinda pissed at the Firefighters for the MAST debacle.

Crystal Williams has been a bottom feeder for alot of years.She makes her living off the poor and helpless and then calls herself an advocate. No big supporter of Rizzo but at least he isn't tainted with special interest.

I just think that I never met a County Commission that I liked! SOmething inherently crooked about the county jurisdictions. Countrified, good old boy, patronage employees; Is there a county commissioner in America whose county crews don't drop off extra/unused gravel, seed, etc etc at their farms where there's no one looking?
Course TV stations will never go look for them, that takes STAFF to stake out their farms. What station went down and got a KCSD Superintendent out for 'back injuries' down in florida living it up? You'll never see a story like that again on television!
Never understood why journalists focus only on CITY government, never COUNTY government... where the graft and corruption is.
