The big ruckus brewing this morning in Kansas City Politics is the release of the Freedom Inc. ballot.
FREEDOM INC. DECIDED NOT TO SUPPORT JACKSON COUNTY'S NEW AND IMPROVED CHARTER IN A MOVE THAT'S ALREADY SENDING SHOCK WAVES AMONG LOCAL POLITICAL INSIDERS!!!
The Jackson County Charter review and current ballot question was hard fought and includes a lot of initiatives that go a long way toward improving the image of Jackson County Government.
However, AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS offer a hint that the lack of support from Freedom Inc. might be more about money and the lack of respect paid to the Eastside political powerhouse.
Example:
JACKSON COUNTY POLITICAL INTERESTS PAID THE COMMITTEE FOR COUNTY PROGRESS AROUND $14K BUT GAVE FREEDOM INC. NOTHING!!!
Freedom Inc. might rely on the language of their ballot which criticizes The New Charter for vague language and other semantics. Still, the Freedom Inc. Ballot goes out to nearly all the voters on The Eastside this morning and this unexpected move will undoubtedly prove to be a bombshell given the new found influence and Renaissance of the political juggernaut in Kansas City's African-American Community.

ReplyDeleteYeah right. Like they would get off their ass and distribute them. This is all about money. Without money they can't pay poll wokers, buy their lunch, and hand out a few ballots. Jackson County handed them their hat. Ask for too much money and get stiffed. Let Freedom show what they can do without OPM-Other People's Money. Greedy A-holes.

ReplyDeleteThis is a big strategic mistake for Freedom Inc. The voter results from this question will provide quantitative proof of what the Freedom Inc endorsement actually means at the polling place TODAY. They are still able to extort money based on Get Out The Vote efforts in the 70s and 80s. Freedom Inc is a sham today, and we are about to receive scientific proof of their political quackery.

Why would anyone pay Freedom for votes that they can't deliver? The turnout east of Troost in the last school board election was around 4%. Freedom's just another of the "influential" groups and individuals in the black community whose "leadership" isn't followed by much of anybody.

ReplyDelete9:02- Because Jackson County Exec (always a D)runs the CCP. Sanders has his own East of Troost team and doesn't need Freedom. There are several people out there, Terry Riley for one, who can actually get people out there working for a candidate. Freedom keeps all the money and makes a token effort.

ReplyDeleteIf anyone needed proof that this was only about money, then here it is: The new charter language actually expands the definition of discrimination and includes the new ethics commission to investigate charges of discrimination. Result? Freedom is now opposing a charter that will better protect blacks and mimorities from all forms of discrimination. Wow. That makes sense. This group is a joke.

ReplyDeleteAccountability will be zero as it has always been and now that only insiders can see what takes place "behind closed doors" no one will be able to stop the greased political machine, not even Freedom Inc.
