Funky Sales Tax Plan Draws Fire

Crime Scene KC asks and important question: Should KC use sales tax to hire more police officers?

20lbs of Headlines: Mayor, Police Chief Clash Over Hiring More Cops

Worst of all:

MAYOR FUNKY CALLS FOR A "POLICE SURGE" WHICH IS PART OF THE FAILED LANGUAGE OF THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION!!!

Comments

  1. What KCMO needs is not a surge; it needs a purge of all the current elected officials and replacements that actually have some interest in being a part of city government instead of all the other activities the current crew gets excited about instead of providing for things like public safety, streets, trash pick-up, code enforcement and all the rest.
Let's hear from the city candidates about what priorities they have to pull KCMO up out of the hole.

  2. While I'm all for hiring new police officers, I'm also opposed to hiring them based on the assumption that they'll still be employeed when the tax revenues fall. What an idiotic idea. The best approach is to support the Chief's plan to build new stations and buy/repair/update police cruisers/equipment. At least that way we have something permanent to show for our money.

  3. How many officers does KC employ? How many of those officers serve the streets? How many have office jobs and don't do real "street" work? Where are the answers to those questions? Once those are answered, we can look into hiring more officers, but I can guarantee you, there is NO need to employ more. We have cameras on almost every street, why do we need more officers? Or, how about officers building a relationship with their community they serve, rather than enslaving it? Where is Officer Friendly these days??

  4. Vote no on the Public Safety Sales Tax.
Quit rewarding poor performance by KCPD.
KC has had a high homicide rate For YEARS now.

  5. The General Fund is broke Chief Corwin. Should we stop snow removal or street repair to fund more drivers for you? We want more police on the streets and not in offices
