Yes but you have to walk a half mile from where you can park at Walmart to get to the front doors!
ReplyDeleteShopping centers are expensive and as far as rental property, have priced themselves out of the market place. People make less, money crunch is on, self service is a way to get what you want without paying the MALL INVESTORS!
Not rocket science. Its Free Marketplace in action!
Except in JOCO, where College Blvd salaries and investor family income remains fairly high... hence the big Kosher malls are still doing well.
We also have way too much retail space... too much commercial easy money a few years ago caused a building boom when small retailers just weren't getting any traffic, much less people who were actually BUYING. They'll be next for forclosures now that the suckers have been cleaned out of home mortgages!
ReplyDeleteAnd KCMO just keeps those TIFs rolling. There'll be plenty more property that can't make the bond payments, but the land flippers and developers are all long gone on to the next project.
ReplyDeleteAnd now on to the downtown hotel project!
Will RED Development even exist a year from now?
