TKC MOBILE: There are maybe 200 people at The Sprint Center tonight for Mayor Funky's Schools First. The event is also an award ceremony and that seems to be drawing most of the crowd. So far there has been no "frank discussion" and this thing could have been done at a cheaper place.
Kansas City paying for this free admission ... LOSER event. So get ready for more Tax hikes to pay for it. ( We have money for this but not snow removal )
i was there and it was very sad. Most of the people were kids getting "shining star awards" whatever that is, and their parents or relatives. Nothing gained except a second rate magician got some stage time and some sort of belly dancing troup out front with male belly dancers? WTF?
This is the most bizarre thing i have ever seen to try to win an election. The only thing missing was the bearded lady.
A mistaken strategy. The Funk bet and he lost. It was a bad gamble to start with.
If he's smart, he'll not embarrass himself further. I sure wouldn't. Besides that, he's catching a lot of crap these days. So what does he have to gain by fighting the good fight? More years of criticism?
Were I him, I'd slide into obscurity and find a way to make a living that's not so high profile! Lets face it, his wife, much as he loves her, and that's not a bad thing, is not an asset to his political career!
I think he's done, politically, and he needs to be pragmatic about that. Did Tony do it? Well maybe. But no matter who DID it, I think the Funk's political career is over with. Any further attempts will just be even more painful. Time to cut his losses.
To get reelected is an uphill battle and even if it's not? Well why go through another term of all this crap?
What he's learned is that an accountant's skills isn't really enough to be politically successful!! Ya gotta have PAZAAAZ too!
Voters tried it, and it didn't work. It's not so bad. And I think the Funk's gotten a really bad rap by his detractors like Tony and the Shitty Hall turds!
Let the guy exit with some dignity, okay? He really did try hard to do it right.
I was there It was so poor it was embarrassing. It was like a cheap circus with bad performers and bad food. You ask yourself why you went in the first place. No wonder KC is so screwed up.
What a shameful way to use the kids to get their voters in the seats. It seems that several schools were contacted and asked to attend because their students "might" receive an award from the Mayor. So, they go the Sprint Center, see the hippie dance troupe out front, and most kids don't get a mention from the Mayor. And oh by the way kids, the Mayor wants support for a 100 million dollars in municipal bonds for sidewalks and lights around the schools that are still open in KC.
Well, this thread is filled with Funk haters. Not suprising.
Yet I didn't see any supporters in here, so I assume it was a fairly pathetic turnout and not what the Mayor had hoped.
Hopefully, he'll evaluate this turnout and make his political decision about reelection rightfully. Were I him, I'd back out of politics so he won't be further embarrassed by an actual vote. He did work hard but it just didn't work out so well. Leave him some dignity, you turds!
Not than any of you could have done better! NOw who would you choose who can do better?
Ouch. I would have been there but the school district scheduled a last minute meeting with parents about the principal rehiring process. About thirty parents showed up and it was a really good and informative meeting. Too bad about the mayor's Town Hall.
What a failure a hot dog vendor get's that many people.
ReplyDeleteSounds like that so few people showed up that he could have hosted it on his residential lawn... with the co-mayor serving hot-dogs in a clown outfit.
ReplyDeleteWould you buy a hot dog from that woman? Would ya?
ReplyDeleteI thought not.
Naw.... but the idea of her serving them in a clown out-fit sounded good.
ReplyDeleteI was going to go but my Ouiji Board said I would be eaten by lions. So I stayed home in my bunker and listened to my 78s of Sen. McCarthy.
ReplyDeleteWho cares? Bottom line and Pitch are making fun of Barnhart and that is a lot more fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's still fun.
ReplyDeleteI mean KC has been ruined by our Mayor, City Council, and Police department we paid for it so might as well have some fun with it.
This is shameful. A total waste. Funk' strike out again.
ReplyDeleteHow much money did it cost the Sprint Center to turn on the lights for this? Who is paying that bill?
ReplyDeleteKansas City paying for this free admission ... LOSER event. So get ready for more Tax hikes to pay for it. ( We have money for this but not snow removal )
ReplyDeleteFunk you need a better plan.
ReplyDeleteI was there for about 20 minutes then left --- it was that bad.

ReplyDeleteThe event had DESPERATION written all over it.

ReplyDelete"Leave him some dignity ...".
ReplyDeleteWhy? Non sum dignus.
Half the turn out were not supporters but kansas citians seeing for themselves what a pathetic turnout it was. 200 supporters tops.
ReplyDeleteFunkhouser is an ass.
ReplyDeleteRadioman is a pathetic fool for believing there is anything good or noble in Funkhouser.
What's tony's plan?
ReplyDeleteRadio man, please. Weve asked nice. One post per topic and less than two paragraphs.
ReplyDeleteI'm with 11:47.
ReplyDeleteI'm not the mayor, but I can get a better turnout at my parties...Funk's a loser. Get rid of him.
