As a public service, I'm going to mythbust a great deal of the gossip going around about the recent Plaza protest against a new Arizona law.
Here are some facts I think I should set straight that contradict a great deal of what local pundits are spewing forth:
1. The law isn't about immigration, it's about racial and ethnic profiling in the name of an immigration crackdown. Folks upset about the law aren't protesting for immigrant rights, they are objecting to the law applying differently for brown people on first sight.
2. The Plaza Protest wasn't put on by illegal immigrants - In fact, it was organized by local Catholic Groups and supporters of the Dream Act. Church folk and AMERICANS interested in political organizing . . . These are the sinister forces that strike fear into the hearts of so many reactionaries.
3. The law is a great turning point for the Conservative movement - Not really, unless alienating the fastest growing and most dynamic contingent of AMERICAN society is the path to political success (It's not). This is old school hate that seeks to deny brown people WHO ARE AMERICAN CITIZENS a place in this society and the pushback is enough to keep supporters of this nonsense far away from power in some of the most densely populated areas in the Nation.
The photo featured in this post comes courtesy of a rather GULLY TKC TIPSTER while Eric Bowers is posting another GREAT IMAGE of the weekend protest.
riding dirty.
ReplyDeleteDat can't be a mexican driving dat car; it too nice
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the realization that this isn't about immigration. In case you missed it health care reform wasn't about "socialized medicine" and banking reform isn't about "institutionalized bailouts." It is all about pandering to white people who feel they pay too much in taxes for dark people. While not opposing paying for two wars to kill dark people.
ReplyDeleteThe agenda of the Tea Party Movement is inherently racist and based in the mindset that white people are being persecuted.
I won't speak for the teabaggers because I think many of them ARE racist and its more focused on Obama than conservative budgeting.
ReplyDeleteBut the Arizona law IS about immigration. THey're being inundated by undergrounders and its killing schools, health care and more. Illegals need to become legal taxpayers to pay their own way.
Brown people need to quit whining on behalf of the illegals and start working to make them join the society like the rest of us did.
Tony, are you a citizen? IF so, why aren't you working for the pathway? Or is it that you don't work so don't pay taxes?
Curious... can illegals buy car insurance or are they all on the road without?
Do illegals mostly have or don't have health insurance? If they don't, then the rest of us are paying for our care and theirs too.
Do illegals mostly send untaxed greenbacks through the mail to their families back home?
Lets clear up THESE questions, which are economic, not having anything to do with skin color.
I'd say being fastest growing is fine for most things. But in this case, it seems to be the fastest growing open wound in America.
Second fastest, actually. The fastest is the exodus of US jobs to China. We need our government to do something about that as well, unless Arizona will ban imported goods from the west.
Please read this carefully. This does not change a thing. The only new policy is that if you are pulled over for a normal traffic violation or Cops receive a complaint about loitering, harassment etc they can ask you to produce State ID or a DL if you can not produce ID then the cop can ask you if you are a legal US citizen. If you are then you get shipped back to your homeland. There is so much outrage here and I don't think people understand.
ReplyDeleteThe concern should be about what happens when an illegal gets nabbed and they have been here for 20 + years and have kids that are US Citizens. That's the issue that we should be addressing and trying to find a solution to.
This problem of immigration into the USA, needs to be addressed by looking for the cause. What has Mexico to virtually collapse? Would the drug cartels be such a problem if there was NO GRINGO market? When you all speak about "human rights", why is there one standard for the USA and none for Mexico? Does agri-business really want the "illegals" made citizens, so they'll have to pay them more? If you think the politicians give a damn about anything other than a vote from there people, good luck.
ReplyDelete"Or is it that you don't work so don't pay taxes?" That would be a yes. Didn't you know Tony sponges off his mom or whatever woman happens to have low enough self-esteem to get with a fat misogynist who lives in his mom's basement. (That's probably why he hates women so much - because he's ashamed that he has been dependent on them to pay his bills and give him a place to sleep for his whole miserable life.)
ReplyDeleteCan you squeeze your lard ass and giant, hairy rippling gut that can be seen from outer space into a Speedo, Tony?
ReplyDeletewhat's so wrong in mexico? is it corruption, greed, etc.? then why don't the citizens of mexico REVOLT against their government and make things better THERE???
ReplyDeleteMexico Tea party?
ReplyDeleteMexico tea party?
ReplyDeleteFiesta de te! Yayayayaya!
ReplyDeleteHey lardass Tony, why don't you go down to Mexico and help organize that Mexican tea party? Oh, I forgot - you don't speak Spanish.
ReplyDeleteTony does speak Spanish, just not to you and AMERICANS like Tony aren't allowed to participate in Mexican political activity.
ReplyDeleteReading is Fundamental.
so why should we allow illegal mexicans a voice in our politics?
ReplyDeleteI found a video of Tony speaking Spanish (before he got fat):
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNs1vpQ_28I&feature=related
Tony: "Yo kee-air-o- eer ah la plahya. El problemo is kay mee assento is tahr-ee-bleh."
ReplyDeleteLOL!
Enough of the petty personal attacks. Not so funny. Just petty. Stick to issues.
ReplyDeleteWhy do Mexicans put their last name on the back windshields of their pick-ups????
ReplyDeleteSo they won't steal their own truck!
Hey radioman - you have no credibility criticizing "petty personal attacks" if you come here. This blog is about 80 percent "petty personal attacks." Like attracts like. Tony is responsible for the tone of his comments.
ReplyDeleteBut I guess if you're the "blogger" it's okay to pick on women who are much slimmer than yourself for being "fat" or "plus-sized", to called women bitches, to make homophobic slurs, to make racist comments, to post porn and make piggish, disgusting comments about it, and to personally attack real people on a daily basis, calling them "jerks" and much worse. The commenters, on the other hand, will get jumped on, for directing the same shit back at the "blogger" that he directs at everyone else.
ReplyDeleteCan you explain that, radioman? Why do you come to this blog if you don't like hateful personal screeds. I happen to think Tony deserves to have one directed back at him every now and then, though I don't believe he has emotions, so it's not like it shows him how it feels or anything. Tony is a sociopath. A fat, ugly sociopath.
