The Kansas City Call Publishes An Authoritative Article On Plaza Violence

A rather brilliant article from Eric L. Wesson: "Police Have No Answers To Teen Or Community Violence"

  1. Good article. Corwin for mayor? I think not. I hope he runs so I can vote for Sly James.

  2. Corwin is NOT mayor material. He would be the LAST person I would vote for. Corwin is too selfish to be a good Mayor for Kansas City. Kansas City needs real change. Not a repeat of the good ole boy system ..which ask anyone on the Police Dept. that's all KCPD is.

  3. I would not vote for Corwin.

  4. To Eric L. Wesson great article nicely written with great in-site to KC politics.

Don't let Corwin fool the Black community.

    Corwin only cares about Corwin.

    Everyone else is canon fodder.

  5. That article is not brilliant. It's subjective, contains conflict of interest, pretty much everything journalism is not supposed to be. (Why the insertion about Corwin for mayor? Totally irrelevant to this article.)I was at that meeting, and Eric Wesson tried to say he represented some group. He's just mad he didn't get to say his piece. Good journalists do NOT participate or advocate. They observe and write. Wesson is not a journalist (not to mention his grammar/spelling are about on par with Alonzo Washington) any more than I'm the president of the U.S.
On another note, why is it up to the police to solve these problems? These are societal and parenting issues. Police are there to enforce laws, not raise the children of derelicts.

  6. contains conflict of interest.... like Corwin ????

  7. "pretty much everything journalism is not supposed to be"..... because a black man wrote it.

  8. "That article is not brilliant.... "

I read it and it's a good article from another perspective.... It's called free speech.... I appreciate the opinions from something other than main-stream high-school kansas city politics.

  9. @11:35 Think he may have been pointing out the obvious if in fact you were there that the meeting was all political he was posturing. Those kids didn't have a plan or an idea. It wasn't about the kids it was about him looking like a leader in charge. Hey Corwin or whomever wrote that why don't you take as much time solving murders. As the Star pointed out also he had on a suit instead of a police uniform.

    Good job Eric Wesson!

  11. Corwin is corrupt and hated by the rank and file officer. His era is a step back for KCPD.

  12. I work for the PD and can not stand him. Corwin got a 15,000 dollar pay raise then told the rest of the PD the very next day that they needed to cut back. Enough said.

  13. What really sorry is the "KCPD Chief's Blog" which is not even written by him but has his name on it.

It was not even his idea.

I doubt Corwin even knows he has a blog.

  14. Hey I work at KCPD who's Corwin ?

  15. @Corwin I mean 11:35 I'm kinda confused as to why you feel Wesson who writes for a newspaper and has two radio talk shows would not get to say his piece? I also was at the meeting and did not see him attempting to say anything. In the black community we have to wear more than one hat. In Wesson's case I applaud him for trying to make a difference beyond the scope of being in a box as "journalism" defined by white males who tell their side of the story.

Good Job Tony and Wesson for bringing us another perspective beside the Star!

  16. Yeah that SOB did get a raise and tell us to cut back. I'd almost vote for Funkhouser before I'd vote for the SOB. I was at the meeting too and he didn't have on a uniform. That meeting was political to make the black community and Rosemary Lowe think that he cared about black people.

Keep up the good work Wesson!
He needs to start talking about these murders in the black community and come up with a plan on what we are to do. Whenever it comes up he just shrugs his shoulders.

  17. For those that work on the department go back to the Daily Informant and look at when Corwin sent out his belt tight-ing message and when he got a raise. Department members are suppose to cut back---- but not him.

Plus look at all the trips he has taken. Israel , Australia, Canada ...... must be nice. HYPOCRITE.

  18. As a PD member I was offended that he took off his uniform. It tells me he's more interested in politics than LE. It did not fool me. I saw right through it.

  19. Got news for you, this is not just a job for the government, it's really the job of parents, grandparents and family to be more involved in their kids lives...

  20. I'm a parent but because of the economy I work two jobs. I wish I had a better job where I could spend more time with my children. I LOVE and miss them.... but right now this is where I'm at and what i must do to support my family.

  21. Since when are the police supposed to have "answers to teen or community violence"?

    Hello?

    They're not in that business.

The Mayor and his office and the City Council and church and community leaders should have these answers.

Police protect you when people do stupid things, like create anarchy for their own, twisted "entertainment" on a Saturday night, say.

    Sheesh.

I wouldn't think this needs explaining.
