This week Jeff Roe's Source blog has been devoted to implying that Congressman Emanuel Cleaver was lying about being spit on during the Healthcare debate.
Meanwhile, for the most part, the vast majority of voters in Kansas City have been sympathetic to Former Mayor Cleaver. Obama's healthcare victory has exposed The Tea Party as nothing more than a political paper tiger and the reactionary wackos have been proven to be effective at nothing more than making U.S. politics just a bit more interesting (and sorta racist) for cable news, blogs and talk radio.
But, for me, the interesting part of this whole debate is the political friendship between Mayor Funky and Jeff Roe. Funkhouser still has one of Roe's former employees making a boat load of cash for "consulting" and possibly Gloria Squitiro Foot Washing. And Roe is still largely perceived as Funky's only significant political consultant ally. Still . . .
LIKE OR NOT, MAYOR FUNKY KEEPING "CLEAVER HATING COMPANY" ISN'T GOING TO WIN HIM ANY MORE VOTES IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Cleaver's Congressional Seat is safe, he just finished delivering $50 mil to the KC Area and he just might have provided the momentum to push the Obamacare victory over the top.
Meanwhile, Mayor Funky and his wife are mostly broke have no political capital and even fewer friends.
The fact of the matter is . . . Jeff Roe Dumping Mayor Funky (a possibility) would probably have a bigger impact on the upcoming Mayor's Race than if Squitiro decided on another political consultant.
In the final analysis, Jeff Roe believes in what he does, he's a Republican Machiavelli pushing forward his worldview . . . Whereas Kansas City's Mayor has proven over time that he doesn't believe in smart fiscal decisions, infrastructure as a priority, building a consensus in local government or any of the things he promised during his campaign.
We now live in one of the most politically charged epochs of American History and a crucial point for Kansas City and Mayor Funky seems to only really believe in his wife.
Ok Tony next time write about Jeff Roe pretending to be a man when he is really a fat woman from West Virginia.

ReplyDeleteTony, time to wake up! The mess KC is in didn't start with the hippies. It began with that grifter cleaver, got worse under glorioso/barns (true cronyism at it's worst). The Hippies inherited a broken city and the BUSH recession to boot. Obama, himself couldn't fix this. Not to mention cauthen (who hired that guy?) and Ed Ford and Co.. This won't get better till the economy is turned around and people have JOBS. Unfortunately, when it comes to JOBS, it looks like Obama is CLUELESS.
