Deb Hermann is slated to party with her Council Peeps this evening. It's not a public meeting, just a local politico social. However, what's on the mind of most of them is whether the Council lady will run for Mayor.
As time goes on Hermann's name is moving toward the forefront of potential Mayoral candidates that could not only present a serious challenge to Mayor Funky but also carry the Northland Vote. Still a question about her candidacy remains . . .
WILL KANSAS CITY SUPPORT DEB HERMANN AS MAYOR?
So far she hasn't asked but she's been taking meetings with a great many people and the topic has come up.
TKC Friends (they do exist) speak very highly of this lady and her work on the budget has been serious rather than politically minded like the incompetent Mayor and his barefoot wife.
However, if this whole town doesn't support her than she'll do nothing more than completely split the Northland vote and make way for Sly James.
So far, the wost that's been said about her is that she doesn't have as much of an education of Mayor Funky PhD . . . I almost think that's to her benefit. Nevertheless, I notice that Hermann doesn't have many connections to minority communities in Kansas City and she gets her feelings hurt very quickly when the topic of race comes up in local politics . . . Which happens most days. If Hermann is serious about a potential Mayoral Run . . . Look for her to start making friends with people of color faster than a suburban kid just discovering hip-hop.
Quick Answer: No.
ReplyDeleteIf I wasn't throwing away my vote, I would vote for her. Very high integrity, and smart as hell. Don't know what barriers she faces.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Deb Herman. I know you have the best interest of the city in mind.
ReplyDeleteIf she does run it will be an uphill battle. She lacks some of the background desirable in a Mayor. She does have integrity. A commodity sorely lacking in the current mayoral office holder.
ReplyDeleteShe will be faced with a large segment of the civic, business and educational leaders questioning her ability to capably govern our city out of it's current mess. Her lack of education could be a factor in this race as we need highly educated people making solid decisions. She will have to have smart, ethical people working in her office. She must be willing to listen.
If she does run, I will support her.
so, she is starting on the same footing as Sly James in regard to her diversity of friends and fellow volunteers? She is a little ahead as she has an extensive, city wide network of neighborhood people in her corner.
ReplyDeleteAt least she is a Democrat. Sly and "mayor failure" adhere to the GOP.
Sly James is not a Republican. Most of the Progressive community is already behind him. Is that you, Jason Parsons, posting on behalf of Burke? Or is that Pat Gray and the Heavies posting on behalf of Rowland?
ReplyDeleteI don't believe Deb is a Democrat . . . although it doesn't really matter.

ReplyDelete11:24, I'm not sure if I understand what you are saying. Can you repost it?
ReplyDeleteSorry . . . I blame Tony's new system.
ReplyDeleteWill Tony be at the party? What about reporters?
ReplyDeleteCity Hall is fucked, and the everyday citizens are suffering. Among those re city employees who get the ax this week.
Deb is ethical, which cannot be said for the others.
Is this a party to celebrate the budget passing? WIll Gloria be there?
ReplyDeleteTHIS ROOM is way too pre-occupied with Kansas City Mizzouri politics!
ReplyDeleteMost people in this metro don't really care that much. The real quality of life is OUTSIDE of the city itself. JOCO, north, east, south.
As to those 63rd types stuck in the isolated nicer areas of "Old KC", or along the Ward Parkway corridor or way out south in Brookside, Waldo, Red Bridge? Can you file suit and succeed?
Like, get away from the nigras and their violent schools and horrible, ignorant culture!! Do we have to send kids to catholic and private schools to stay away from the GREAT GRANDSONS OF THE sons of slaves?
Ya know. There was a time when Westport (serious KC families grandparents) took serious English and Latin. Now they're gonna close that school with so much KC heritage from the twenties to the fifties. Grandparents of today's best KC families.
(Sadly I just gave away a Bible signed to their longtime teacher by each of 25 of KC's best Westport Latin students/families from 1954... but all likely gone now.)
Lets face it, our local society has dumbed down in the last 25 years, like no generations before ours!
Unlike past generations, we have NO respect for our recent heritage as those before us. It's as if we've decided HISTORY, our ancestors who made us, is worthless!
Deb Herman was Funks biggest supporter so i guess she thinks everyone has a memory problem , plus she looks like a bar fly who has had one too many , for alot of reasons no.
ReplyDeleteRadio douche bag, looks like you still have your hands full with conquering noun verb agreement.
ReplyDeleteSigned,
Descendant of slaves.
I think Little Debbie will win in a landslide because she definitely will have the fat white chick vote locked up. That is probably about 30% of the vote right there at the buffet line.
ReplyDeleteI know funky sucks but don't we need a mayor that at least has a college degree. She probably doesn't qualify to manage a QT - same as Riley, Curls and Sanders Brooks.
City council and Mayoral candidates should at least represent someone who would be qualified to be hired for a mid management job at about any respectable company.
Mid management at any respectable company does not necessarily require a college degree.
ReplyDeleteI do not know which political operative keeps pounding this "college degree" drum, but you'd best remember: the more you criticize her for not having a degree the more you insult the voters who do not have degrees.
Little Debbie, there is your new nickname Tony!
ReplyDeleteYou would think that all of the time saved on not getting a college degree could have been spent on getting one's hair done.
ReplyDeleteSo many candidates from North is going to net south Kansas City the Mayor. You go Deb and Bruke
ReplyDeleteRadioman is from the Dark Ages.
ReplyDeleteRadio Retard
ReplyDeleteThe word you were looking for as you were waxing philosophic on our society being "Dumbed Down", is SECEDE, not succeed. Next time try not to use the wrong word when talking about other folks being dumb. And would you stand on the corner of 39th and Prospect and shout the word Nigra? Or do you only type what you don't have the balls to speak in public? I can tolerate a racist as long as they have the conviction to stand on it in public. But I can't stand a keyboard bigot. So grow a pair and get a dictionary.
Everyone that is serving now should be voted out period. They all suck together, and deserve nothing but the door hitting them on the way out. Start fresh with all new peeps. Not more of the same crap. She is not worth a second look.
ReplyDeleteDeb does not have what it takes to be Mayor. same thing as Funky. You know what we got with him. No more experimental Mayors.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of ignorance in some of these posts is only bearable by reading some of the intelligent writings, which include those that think Deb has integrity, a hard work ethic and who can get the job done.
ReplyDeleteCollege degrees are not a measure of worth in this arena. Funk has three. Jeff Yates had two. Chuck Eddy was a "Doctor" of Chiropractic. What has such higher education reaped for us? Think about it.
Deb's personal appearance is not only acceptable, but her good humor and ability to laugh at herself make her an attractive person. A candidate that is oh so serious that they can't take a little ribbing should not be in the race (are you listening Rowland?). Her ability to see things through to the end (the budget... firing Cauthen, etc.) is a critical component for a successful mayor.
This town needs a fiscal conservative who can build consensus and constituencies and not be bullied by special interest groups. This town needs Deb Hermann.
Nobody wants that old HO.
ReplyDeleteTo Anon 10:55... shut up, Kendrick.
ReplyDeleteShe was a Funk supporter. Now she could beat him. Sounds like poetic justice to me.
ReplyDeleteCranky
ReplyDeleteNot liked by colleagues
Know it all
Parrots good ideas
Can’t raise money
Not much job experience if any since High School.
Predicted Campaign slogan:
ReplyDelete"Vote for me, I'm tall"
I would love to vote for Deb. As to the one who said something to the effect that we should throw them all out, I think watching channel 2 a bit it becomes clear, she is not consistently casting her votes with anyone, except perhaps Skaggs, which would make sense as they share moral values and are from the same district. I say dump the 9 who kept Cauthen-corruption going and made sure he got a sweeeeet deal leaving.
ReplyDeleteSorry, anyone who thought it was smart to back Funky has no business being in charge of anything....except maybe a dog park.
