TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! FIND SOMEBODY ELSE FOR THE UPCOMING 3RD DISTRICT CITY COUNCIL FIGHT!!! AIRICK L. WEST IS STAYING WITH THE KC SCHOOL BOARD!!!

It's very rare to find someone honoring their commitments in Kansas City.

KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS report . . .

KANSAS CITY 3RD DISTRICT RESIDENTS ARE IN A DESPERATE SEARCH TO RUN SOMEONE NEW FOR THE CITY COUNCIL AND REPLACE SHARON SANDERS BROOKS AND MAYBE MELBA CURLS!!! THE NAME OF AIRICK L. WEST WAS AT THE TOP OF THEIR LIST!!!

There have been sit downs.

There have been meetings.

There are also business leaders in KC from outside the District begging West to run and offering him support.

TKC TIPSTERS ARE SAD TO REPORT THAT WORD FROM ALL THESE MEETINGS SUGGESTS THAT WEST WILL NOT RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL AND INSTEAD SERVE OUT HIS TERM ON THE SCHOOL BOARD!!!

Eastside leaders will have to look somewhere else to replace the widely disliked Brooks.

West is talking nothing but School District Progress and most sources from all parts of Kansas City say he's doing his best to build up the new Superintendent John Covington and what many are calling unprecedented progress at KC Schools. Developing . . .

So, in order to put this rumor to rest, I should note that the search continues for Eastside leadership at the Council level while Mr. West apparently remains committed to serve out his term on the School Board.

  4. Th young man that ran last time Brandon Ellington is going to run again, and he is gathering ground root support from the folks in the 3rd District. He has the young voters ear and he's doing music every Sunday at 47th Brush Creek Amp Benton/Cleaver Blvd, 2-7pm. I heard him speak out on the so called Leaders in Kansas City. It would be unwise to sleep on this young man.

  5. West can't run. He would be exposed as being next-to-homeless and living off the money that Robin Turner's fat ass sends him every month.

  8. I hope Ellington runs again, and another good candidate steps up to the plate. Both 3rd district councilmembers need to be replaced.

I hope anyone besides Sharon Sanders Brooks runs for Councilperson. What a shame Airick L. West chose not to run. A shame for all of us in the 3rd District, but a blessing for the children in our schools. I seriously doubt the Council members realize what they're up against in the upcoming elections. Their total disregard for using our tax dollars for providing basic services to the citizens of our district, choosing instead to support our Mayor, has left them hated by the larger part of residents here on the Eastside. I suppose Ellington would be our next best choice! Looking forward to meeting Brandon Ellington, and hopefully even more interested candidates for 3rd district. An even more pressing issue right now would be the MAST vote tomorrow. Should this pass, and Mast become a City department, or be directly folded into the Fire Department, each Councilmember voting yes may expect to be voted out of office.

  10. I think it is Eric L. Wesson they are trying to get to run. Not Airick West.Eric knows the issues of the Third District and people in that District like him enough that he could very easily win if he decides to run. I know for a fact that he has been looking for houses in the Third District. I would give him my vote for sure.

  11. Eric Wesson, can't run he is a convicted felon, that served many years.
I would like to see young blood in office and after the last election, Ellington was well prepared and stated facts concerning the 3rd District. Does anyone know how to get in contact with Brandon Ellington?

  12. Yeah go to his concert at Brush Creek Amphitheater Sun at 2pm.

  13. Wesson can run. Tindall is a convicted felon and he is an elected County official. As long as 10 years has elapsed since the crime was committed he is eligible.Ellington could not raise the money needed to run and although he can't be any worse we need someone who can hit the ground running. We have been neglected in this district for too long. Don't have time for a learning experience.Don't think K.C. is ready for a dreadlock candidate.

  14. 10:44 Anonymous- Who do you think you are talking like that about Airick and Robyne. That was a rude and dispicable thing to say about a couple of amazing individuals that have given an enormous amount to this city.
If you're going to post such tasteless garbage, come out and show yourself so you can be held accountable for your poisonous words.

  15. Michael Hart don't buy into that MAST scare tactic. I don't have a horse in the race and only want the ambulance to show up if and when I need. When was the last time a fire occurred and several trucks didn't respond in record time? Honestly, the cost to the consumer would probably decrease as the city will not operate an ambulance service to make money. The city will treat it as a service, therefore, I suspect the immediate out of pocket expense charged to the consumer which currently makes up about 60% of MAST revenue will likely be absorbed by the city and in turn more money will be used out of the city's general fund to support MAST. Now, there might be an ask in the next year or two for a tax increase to cover the budget shortfall, but isn't this the type of "Obama" era we are living is so now is as good as a time as any to increase the local taxes. He's hitting us with every other type of tax. Right?

Have you thought about NOT making every important sentence CAPITAL LETTERS in RED?

Seriously. Try leaving things Upper and Lower case...but using BOLD and FONT LARGE, and not just red capital letters.

CAP LETTERS, specially in RED are like YELLING. Not to be confused with IMPORTANT. Save the CAPITAL LETTERS for SCREAMING.

Bold is a really good internet device for highlighting important phrases!

  18. Wesson can run. Tindall is a convicted felon and he is an elected County official. County and City is different. LOL Eric Wesson u r busted and by the way you are not in touch Ellington cut his dred locks a year ago!!!!!!!!
And hair has nothing to do with the election.

  19. Ellington could have raised the money however he choose not to take the money that would have continued to corrupt and neglect the 3rd District.
Ellington if he does run, will win, hair and all.

It doesn't take experience to be a City Council member, wow you should learn your government, thats the problem, if you don't know then you should ask, all one has to be able to do is to voice the concerns of his district it is the people not the council member. And by the way you must be bald to make a asshole statement pertaining to the young man's hair, And there is one does not have to have experience to be the PRESIDENT!

What it all the negative writings about? The three men Wesson, West and Ellington are of great character and all service our community. Isn't two seats going to open? The 3rd,& 5th districts need a change period. I will support Wesson, West and Ellington, if they decided to run for City Council. I know for a fact that all of the men mention have respect for each other. I hope that they don't allow the negative chatter to change their views or to redirect their focus.
It is not about the monies raised for we have seen that didn't do anything for the 3rd or 5th districts residents. I do know, that I myself will be working hard to educate the residents about City Government, so that they will make a more informed choice in the upcoming elections.
Wesson, West & Ellington don't get distracted by all the bull that is has been written. If you build bridges, people will cross.

Mrs. E, I think there is another person you should thinking about.

Wesson is a felon. West is on the school board. And Ellington is well-intentioned but a little green. We need someone who has a an understanding of how things work, and has the values of the Third at heart - someone who can get the job done, not just walk in with "the best of intentions."

That person exists, and lives in the Third District.

  23. It is true... SSB and Melba are the two worst CC members in the history of Kansas City. Even corruption "Czars" Hazley, Hernandez and Weber were at least somewhat effective. These two are dumb as hell and SSB's arrogance is pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I agree with Ms. E.
The Third District or the Fifth District could benefit from either of the three gentlemen representing the district. I think the person is incorrect that called Wesson a felon. I think he is a ex-felon and the city charter does afford him the opportunity to be elected. I know it does because the same issue came up with Hazley. Luck for us the majority of the people that would be voting for the third district are Black so all of you hatin' ass white people who post on here wouldn't get to vote for any of them anyway. By the way Wesson was at the event at Bruce Watkins so I'm sure he knows that Ellington does not have the braids anymore. Whomever said my eaarlier post was him.

  25. Anonymous 5:34, I'm not buying into any scare tactics. And by the way, I must say I appreciate your civil tone. How refreshing to debate an issue with a person capable of such a thing a civil debate-kudos to you!! These are the most important points of interest for me regarding the MAST issue;

    COST OF TAKEOVER

Local 42's Louie Wright has told MAST employees that he will get "time served" for the purpose of KCMO pensions included in the take over language.
"Time served" shoved onto the current KCMO Pension Fund for 350 new employees.
MAST employees will not contribute to start up pension. They will also keep their 401Ks.
Cost of this publicly funded pension buy-in is estimated at $17 Mil to $21 Mil.
Letter from KCMO Pension Board dated November, 2009 declares this a "bad idea"
Cost analysis of the health benefits that KCMO will incur yearly are estimated to be $700,000 ABOVE the costs that MAST currently pays.

    John Sharp

12 years as Director of MAST.
Involved in lawsuit filed in 2002, settled for 2.85 MIL
Involved in lawsuit Don Gibson V Mast. Settled for $300,000 ( MAST was prepared to go to court until Sharp informed them that he would be a unfriendly witness)
Court costs and legal fees for above cases not included.
John Sharp fired from his post as Executive Director of MAST on October 4, 2003.
MAST was left with a depleted Reserve Fund due to poor billing practises and legal entanglements.
MAST was forced to ask KCMO for a $2 Million line of credit to meet payroll and other expenses.
As Director of MAST Sharp was against pensions, MAST has in place 401Ks. Since this take over discussion Sharp has reversed his objections.

In Search Of A Solid Funding Stream

Jeff Yates, KCMO Finance Director told MAST that he believes he can access funds from the Regional Health Levy to pay for added expenses of this alleged "money saver" merger.
Yates believes that the extra burden of health benefits and the upfront buy-in to the KCMO pension fund for MAST staff is a reasonable expenditure from the indigent care monies.
Currently 100% of the city's subsidies comes from the health levy. No general revenues are used.
So do we rob Peter to pay Paul for something we do not need?
Troy Schulte has stated that KCMO can save immediately $189,000 on the MAST telecommunication cost. Highly unlikely.
Health Levy comes up for renewal in 2012

    Stuff That Has No Category

The shelved MAST Strategic Plan to expand into Independence. Contact Mayor Don Reimel for the details.
In 2005 MAST Board members were pressured to recognize Local 42 as the bargaining agent BEFORE Union 34 members voted. MAST Board members refused to be bullied
In 2005 MAST employee's union Local 34 had a room at MAST. An incident took place where Local 34 members were held against their will in the room by Local 42 members. Something to do with a "friendly" takeover vote.....Police were called and a report taken. After the vote 9 new members of Local 42 were sanctioned.
Blue Ribbon Panel was a mirage. It's members were not unbiased. It was heavily weighted in the direction of a take over.
Current ordinance submitted by John Sharp is a load of crap.

I also feel this move to fold MAST into the Fire Department is nothing more than an attempt by Russ Johnson to gain support of the powerful local union, Teamsters 42. While I certainly do not fault Johnson for his choices, I do believe its a mistake that will cost the City an amount in the tens of millions of dollars-directly from our general fund. I believe 100% that our Firefighters are dedicated to their work, saving life and property to the best of their abilities. I feel exactly the same about the dedication of MAST workers. I don't believe for a moment these professionals are behind this move. The persons behind the attempt to fold MAST into the City, and eventually into the Fire Department are those within the power structure of our local government, and the power structure of the Union.
