TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! A CITY COUNCIL CALL FOR A NEPOTISM INVESTIGATION OF MAYOR FUNKY COULD BE ON THE WAY!!!

The budget debate turned out to be a dud.

Mayor Funky's Press Conference temper tantrums didn't influence anybody and ultimately proved that the guy doesn't have any influence over local politics. The reaction to his antics, even among Kansas City conservatives and law enforcement supporters was tepid at best.

Mayor Funky is no longer a factor at City Hall.

Still . . . Plotting against him is fun. And statements from Koster regarding a possible nepotism investigation if the City Council requests it have opened a path to once again challenge Mayor Funky's incompetent and irrelevant leadership . . . This is kind of important given that the guy's wife is still conducting staff meetings and basically running the Mayor from their Brookside residence.

Here's the next move:

WORD ON THE STREET IS THAT THE CITY COUNCIL IS GETTING TOGETHER A REQUEST FOR MISSOURI ATTORNEY GENERAL CHRIS KOSTER TO INVESTIGATE MAYOR FUNKY FOR NEPOTISM!!!

At this point, I'm not sure if it's just a letter or a resolution that a few Council folks have in the works . . . But Mayor Funky failed both the firefighters and the cops so he's going to have a hard time finding ardent supporters who actually vote in Kansas City elections. The risk here is that a nepotism investigation would let Mayor Funky off the hook . . . But the City Council would be wise to use the move as leverage to get Mayor Funky to drop his frivolous lawsuit against Kansas City on behalf of his wife (and her feet) which hasn't made much progress.

Kicking someone when they're down is the best political move of all and word that the Council is cleaning house after cutting the budget across the board is actually encouraging . . . Even if I still don't like most of them.

  3. Here's the thing: This investigation won't do any good because it allows Koster to have it both way. He can grant the investigation and make big headlines making his supporters at Freedom Inc. happy but then when it comes down to it, just as you said Tony, the investigation could come up with nothing.

A recall is the only sure way to get rid of Funk and the Squid. Anything less is just a political parlor game.

  6. Recall isn't going to work. Nepotism isn't going to work.

We're stuck with this idiot for anotherwo years.

think about it, the best, absolute best we can do is shave one year off of his term - and then live Skaggs as our mayor (or SSBrooks if Funk is feeling in an especially vindictive mood) for one year.

That's the best outcome, and it has less than a 5% chance of happening. The guys is totally marginalized - the best thing we can do is elect someone more competent the next time around.

  8. Why bother to recall Funk? He is his own worst enemy. He's already been ruled out of the picture. Why risk getting someone worse in there when nobody takes him seriously?

Hopefully he'll continue to hide out in Brookside where he won't cost the city any more money in lawsuits.

  9. He was at Coffee Girls on Weds afternoon. On Thursday the staff and regulars were making fun of him and the way Gloria was laying on top of him on a couch, while Funk was calling people trying to remind them that he is mayor.

    Pathetic.
