"The old Empire Theatre of downtown Kansas City, restored and nearing its grand opening as the AMC Mainstreet Theatre."

Eric Bowers captures another amazing image of Kansas City. The "Downtown Renaissance" is mostly a myth . . . But damn if the promise of the urban legend doesn't make for a pretty picture.

  2. TKC...we were DT last night. It was so much different. The new theatre marque to go with the Midland marque is spectacular. We got a snack at the new market and there were at least 10 groups of people shopping at 9:00 pm on a Sunday. A woman, solo, apparently walking down from a hotel asked for directions to the "Flying Saucer", where we she have had to go 2 years ago?

You have fun bashing DT and granted the financing is a hot button but, your global - negative view of what's been done down there is wrong. All of what I've described enhances our city even if you and your narrow ilk don't agree.

You're pretty switched on re most issues, but you're just flat wrong on this one.

  4. Tony has no idea what's going on down there. He listens to his skank bar friends and only leave the basement for Darla J.

  5. Eric's HDR images are amazing. I'm curious if there are other HDR photographers out there snapping KC landmark photos. He's got to be one of the best.
