KC with a Russian Accent posts a couple of photos of a bygone era in KC School District History that had higher test scores along with religion in the classroom and legalized disparity. It's not so strange that the good old days weren't so good for us all.

ReplyDeleteHmmm...Lets see, pictures of kids dressed properly, looks like they all have smiles on there faces.. I bet not one of those kids has a gun or knife in there back pack. No apparent graffitti or gang signs..what is the problem with this ?? Oh yeah, and probably not a fear about some asshat ghetto clown driving by trying to gun down someone.
ReplyDeleteHey I went to the KC schools after they turned predominantly black and we went on the same field trips in the 70s. Also during segregation the black kids at Lincoln and the old R.T. Cole received a better education than the black kids in school today in the KC district. I say all of this to say it is not the color of the skin or whether the school is integrated or not. It is the quality of the teachers and resources and the cooperation of the parents and an appreciation for education that make the difference. There are all black schools now and there were some back in the day that work just fine. So I really don't care whether the school is integrated or not. I just don't want forced segregation (ie: you live accross the street from the school but can't go there becasue of your race) and I do want equal resources.
