Tell me . . . What was that journalism theory about mainstream media credibility and fact checking?
Does it apply to a talk show host on a huge radio station basically making up stories that turn out to be incorrect less than 72 hours later?
Kevin Kietzman shouted an Truman Sports Complex strike rumor from the rooftops and big media across town took the bait . . . Hilariously, there's a small correction on his blog in nearly transparent text. Meanwhile, TV newsies who went with the story regularly search for material on blogs and never offer as much as a link.
Note to self: I'm NEVER going to let big media cite "credibility" as a need for their existence anymore . . . It's not the 4th Estate when everybody is tap dancing for ratings.

ReplyDeleteKietzman has been doing this for years. Today he dedicated an entire segment to distorting a Tony Gonzalez interview to where it was this huge story. He made it sound like several of Tony's statements meant something completely different from what they actually did. This sort of sensationlism is akin to the Enquirer or Jerry Springer. Trash radio at it's finest and Kietzman's specialty. I used to like the guy a lot until I have finally noticed this pattern. Now I can't stand him and I'll celebrate the day he leaves the air for good in the same way I did when Carl Peterson was fired. He is, hands down, the worst of his kind in K.C.
