I'm not defending Richard Tolbert or his real estate dealings . . . I'm just asking: What's so newsworthy about his financial demise? The Bannister Mall controversy is over, has been for weeks. The guy hasn't had much success in making concrete gains for any of his causes so what makes him so worthy of the Pitch's muckraking aim? The answer: He's an easy target and The Pitch has a nasty habit of picking on people of color who don't fit in to their liberal, hipster world-view of low expectations. Recently, I had quick run-in with a Pitch editor who said he simply didn't care for the volume of this blog - He did one of those hand gesture "You're right here (high hand) but I could use you here (lower hand)" things that I think originated on Will and Grace . . . Sadly, if I stayed quiet because of what some (admittedly handsome) white guy told me I would have never banged so many blonde, MILF divorcées - No homo, obviously.
Also, I'm guessing/gossiping that reporter Nadia "ALL MY FRIENDS SAY I AM NOT A CHICKEN HEAD!!!" Pflaum wants to balance out her coverage of KC Black people since she's so suspiciously complimentary of mediocre local rap acts doing their best imitation of A Tribe Called Quest.
If The Pitch was honestly digging up dirt on every local politico, it wouldn't be a big deal but so far there's rarely a mention of the current Missouri Ethics Investigation of Mayor Funkhouser . . . So obviously they're being selective in their coverage in much the same way their offices are home to few people of color other than hottie, middle-class Asian chicks - which is admirable, even desirable but not really diverse.
You right Tolberts an easy target.
