Kansas City PETA people took their protest to KCI yesterday in order to decry the use of a chimpanzee in ads for airport's new Internet site.
The protest concerned the use of a chimpanzee, Kenzie, in a KCI commercial. KCI has refused to pull the ad despite the fact that PETA wrote to Tom McKenna, KCI's assistant director of aviation marketing, and pointed out that young chimpanzees like Kenzie are beaten behind the scenes and torn away from their mothers far too early. At about 8 years of age, chimpanzees become unmanageable and are often discarded in decrepit roadside zoos to spend the rest of their lives—up to five decades or more—in cramped, squalid conditions.Strangely, I find myself in agreement with the group. If animals are going to be abused then it should at least be in the name science or a delicious new recipe.
Promoting KCI and its Muslim footbath is too degrading for any kind of animal other than a local advertising executive - Who definitely showed a lack of creativity in coming up with this campaign for an institution that still, unfortunately blocks access to this blog but sells porn at the gift shops.
PETA is a big joke much like this blog!
ReplyDeleteActually I thought the same thing when I saw the commercial. When is somebody going to mention how horrible they treat stage animals? It really was a lame ad. Geico's cavemen were much more creative and also tackles the topic of protesters.
ReplyDeletesilly monkey blogging is for tony.
ReplyDeleteDear god people...they are fucking monkeys!
ReplyDeleteBy the way PETA.....I'm getting ready to go turkey hunting and I might plug a couple other critters while I'm at it!! Can you please show up during deer season sometime and protest....I would suggest you wear camo and a deer rack on your head to get the most attention out of the hunters.
Poor Chimpo!
ReplyDeleteThe cousin of one of my BFF put together that commercial. I'll have to call and ask what it's like to be embroiled in controversy.
ReplyDeleteTheir right. Monkeys don't fly,
ReplyDeleteIt's all Glorias fault. Her and that Funk. Everythings their fault.
ReplyDeleteThought you might want to know that there were only two protesters that showed up -- the one in the jail bird costume and the one in the chimp costume. When done making their statement, the jail bird got a flat tire on Cookingham Drive. I can only assume that the chimp helped to push the car?

ReplyDeleteOH And Mark..that is "They're" right as in "They Are", not Their as in their right arm.
Just a little help from my 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Smith.....MMMM Mrs. Smith, she had nice Boobies.
There is a big animal testing center at KU Med. Why don't they just protest that?
ReplyDeleteHi Tony: I sent you an email before about your site being blocked at KCI's free WiFi access. At the time, I asked the City's IT department to look into it. The filter company the City uses looks for profanity and nudity, which sometimes are on this site. Since it is a public place, realize that kids and others could possibly see nudity on someone's laptop screen if the filter did not exist. I just asked them to look into it again, and they will lift the block for you. The City uses this company for blocking input in the Kansas City Live district and other venues. You need to petition the company directly to be unblocked at the WiFi sites they serve. When I have their web site, I will let you know.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the flykci.com ad, the Kansas City Aviation Department produced a new 60-second television public service announcement commercial to run on CNN’s Airport Network at Kansas City International Airport to promote its www.flykci.com website and the ease and convenience of parking and flying from KCI Airport. The commercial features a chimpanzee named Kenzie. During the two-day production, Kenzie received ample rest time and his trainer was very clear about not overworking him. All of his actions were in response to verbal cues and were rewarded with food. The Kansas City Aviation Department’s experience is limited to our observation of Kenzie’s treatment during the commercial shoot, we believe he was well cared-for and properly treated during the production of our television commercial. We have had discussions with the trainer, who says Kenzie receives regular medical care from a licensed vet. We have conferred with a leading St. Louis-area vet who is familiar with both the trainer and Kenzie, and he was satisfied that Kenzie receives regular medical care and is treated with love and respect. PeTA is generally against the use of chimps for promotional or other purposes. They cite abuses in various places. From all indications we have, Kenzie has a very good life indeed. We appreciate everybody's concern.

PETA is such bullshit. Theyre a hypocritical organization that advocates violence...true story.
ReplyDeleteDo you think it is an initiation process to sit in the cage, or do the older, senior members, look at it as a sweet gig, and make the newbies put on the deer costumes during deer season?
