KSHB provides this gem: "Metro lube shops and their dirty deals" . . . Additionally, that story is neither as interesting as it sounds nor as nasty.

I used to go to Jiffy Lube. Watching those high school kids in action and seeing how they overfilled my car with oil I now take care of it myself.
ReplyDeleteI am not car savy. Anyone can change their own oil with few tools and 20 minutes.
Do a google search and read up. It's easy.
For years i've always called them "Jiffy Gouge". There's a few Valvoline shops that are shady too.
ReplyDeleteI would go as far as to call into question ALL national chain oil change type places. They didn't get that big by only doing the work your car needs, they got big by upselling everything they can. Find a local mechanic you can trust if you can't do the work yourself. A good alternative to the JL@79th and Wornall is Pro Brake and Muffler @7640 Wornall. They are honest and cheaper than JL.
ReplyDeletei took my car to the jiffy lube on rainbow once. they stripped the oil drain plug by over tightening. next day the rod almost went through the engine. i took it to their mechanic and they replaced the engine; for free. plus since i wasn't a total bitch to them they got me a rental car and all i paid for was the insurance. i continue to use their service for the fact that when i say 'i was the engine replacement girl' i know they won't fuck me or my car over.
ReplyDeleteAre you people retards?
ReplyDeleteThat is the business model- sell the oil and service at below cost. Make money on the filters and flushes. duh.
